Things have changed a lot since Kindergarten. Back then things were absolutely crazy, yet easier.
At least, they could all handle it easier.
Now, they were all roughly 16 years old, some had moved, many stayed. One of which, was none other then Nugget. Then there was also Buggs, Carla, Jerome, Ozzy, Cindy, Lilly, and her twin, Billy.
Even after all of these years, Nugget still remained friendless. Well, for the most part. Lilly and Billy were the only ones who would really acknowledge him nowadays. The only time that someone else would, was when he would get bullied.
Now he sat in his 4th period class, thinking about all sorts of things. When the bell rang, the room dispersed. With a sigh, Nugget stood from his seat and walked to the lunchroom.
Other than his short lived crush on Lilly, he's never really cared for people all that much. In fact, now the only person that made his heart swell, was Billy. But Nugget did not think that he had a crush on his dear friend.
Billy would never like him back even if he did.
In the hall outside of the cafeteria, Nugget was stopped by an intimidating figure.
"What do you want with Nugget?" Nugget asked, diverting his gaze to the floor. He used to be strong-willed. People took that from him too.
"Lunch money." Buggs smirked menacingly. "Now."
Nugget shook his head. "It's Nugget's, you can't have it."
Buggs took another step towards Nugget. He was a lot taller then Nugget, and he knew more tactics of harm then Nugget did.
"Buggs." An outside voice called from behind Buggs. "What have I said about picking on him?"
Buggs frowned disappointedly, turning to look at the tall person behind him. "Come on Billy, you know he's a freak."
Billy just shook his head, black hair swaying. "Get the hell away."
Nugget watched as Buggs muttered to himself about killing, and walked off down the hall.
"Nugget thanks Billy." Nugget finally spoke after Buggs was out of sight.
Billy only smiled to himself. "You are quite welcome."
"Does Billy need something?" With golden brows furrowing, Nugget tilted his head.
"How often?" Billy asked.
"Nugget is unsure about what you're asking?"
"How often are you bullied?"
This question made Nugget stop dead in his tracks. Nugget didn't want to answer the question, it made him feel weak. Would Billy think of him as weak? "Not that often."
It was, of course, a lie. Nugget got bullied before school, between passing periods, on the bus, during lunch. And whenever he spoke up during class. It had become the norm.
"Nugget." Billy sighed softly, leaning against the wall and looking straight into Nugget's brown eyes. "Please don't lie to me."
This only made Nugget divert his gaze, his face grew slightly above its usual temperature. He wondered why that had happened. "Nugget isn't lying."
Billy only stared at him for a little while longer, before he sighed yet again and leaned away from the wall.
"At least join me for lunch?"
This was never a good idea. Billy had grown to be one of the most popular boys in school. That's code for, he hangs out with the biggest bullies in school. Nugget could never bring himself to say it though.
"Nugget doesn't know." Was his reply, but he immediately felt guilty when he saw Billy's eyes fall.
"Oh, okay." Billy began to turn around, but Nugget grabbed hold of his shirt. His face grew hot again, when he realized just what he had done. He quickly let go.
"Nugget will join you." Nugget kept his gaze trained straight on the ground as he awaited his response.
"Cool." Billy said with a smile.
