I look in the mirror as I examine my outfit one last time before hearing my phone ding from across the room. I look at the clock as it reads 9pm.

Showtime.

I grab my phone and see a text from Charlotte.

Ladder is all set babes! Ready when you are!x

I let out a silent laugh before opening my window up to see the 5'2 curly haired blonde waving up at me with a wide smile plastered on her face. I climb out onto the roof; keeping the window slightly cracked behind me so I can get back in later.

I make my way to the side of the roof and look down to see Charlotte keeping the ladder steady as I grab ahold of it with both of my hands.

I quickly shimmer down the ladder until both feet are planted safely on the ground.

"Babes! I missed you. By the way, nice pink panties you got on lovey" she smiled seductively before engulfing me into a tight hug.

"You saw me last night, Char. Keep up the compliments and I might just finally let you get into my pants" I joked as we walked hand and hand to the car.

Charlotte has been my best friend since 7th grade. We met in the bathroom at school when she spit on Jessica Mattaponi for calling me a slut. Ever since then we've been inseparable. We've always stuck up for each other even when we knew the other was in the wrong. She's my person. I was the first person she came out as bisexual to. She knew I could never judge her. She had this way about her that made it hard to hate her. Almost impossible.

I look at the car and saw Noah Keely sitting in the driver seat. She shrugged at my confused gaze before opening my door and patting my ass into the back seat.

Noah has been trying to get with Charlotte for years now and she's always turned him down. Noah wasn't a bad looking guy at all. His blonde hair shaved to a buzz cut and his dark eyes matched perfectly to his slightly chubby facial structure. I'm surprised to see his ego hasn't been wounded after 3 years of Charolette completely ignoring him. She winked before closing my door and getting into the front seat next to Noah.

The car is silent besides the sound of How Do You Sleep by Sam Smith playing softly through the speakers of Noah's 2000 Chevrolet Impala. All I can think about is the first sip of alcohol I'll take tonight to forget the pain I feel in my chest constantly.

To forget all the thoughts my brain constantly has. To forget summer is ending. Another school year of Dad asking me why I couldn't be more like Alex.

Alex has always lived to please our father. When Dad found out Alex decided to major in law and follow in his footsteps he was over the moon. When I told him I haven't decided if I wanted to go to college... all I heard was how disappointed he was.

All of my thoughts were pushed to the back of my head when I hear Charlotte squeal from excitement.  The usual quiet docks were now filled with music, teenagers, and alcohol.

What else is there to do on a Saturday night in Walhalla, South Carolina?

Before I could even get my seatbelt off Charlotte was out of the car and opening my door to rush me out.

She links her arm with mine as she swiftly moves us through the crowd and over to the table of empty red solo cups. Charlotte has always had a good recipe for making drinks that got you drunk fast. It's one of her many talents.

"Where did Noah go?" I asked Charlotte as she began to make us a both a drink.

"Who cares? Here babe!" she says shoving the drink into my hand.
