Video Game Genre

Among my mom's siblings, three of them are avid gamers

Aunt Y, Uncle A, and Uncle P (I'm obviously not giving you their real names)

And we recently went game shopping

I kinda got to notice my aunt and uncles' preferred game genre

So here are my observations

Aunt Y likes RPG adventure games with puzzles that really test your brain

I got this because she loves games like Uncharted and Tomb Raider, which are both games where you explore in hopes of treasure, getting through puzzle-like obstacles

From the shopping trip she got Life is Strange which is a game about a girl with the power to manipulate time, so obviously a lot of figuring out stuff

She also loves horror adventure games, having played Resident Evil 1-3 (I think)

On a side note, if I can find a horror adventure game for the PS4 VR she agreed to buy it

Next is Uncle A (I'm going by age btw)

Out of the three, he's the least interested in gaming, preferring to be physical instead

But he does enjoy any game where you can shoot a gun at something

whether it be a zombie or a fellow player

They even said that he had the best aim out of all of them but I have a feeling he got rusty over the years

(Seeing as though, I beat his ass at Call of Duty a couple times)

To add to that, he also recently discovered the NBA something something on the PS4 and seem to want more sport video games

Probably to get his fill on playing Basketball if he hasn't been on the court in a while

And also to play without sweating I guess

Now Uncle P

Little disclaimer, I actually don't know my Uncle P too much, compared to my other aunts and uncle

It didn't help that he moved to another city for work

But regardless, I still get a feel for the kind of games he plays

He seems to really like Monster Hunter, Diablo, and  Witcher. All of which are games that involve going around an area and fighting enemies to level up your characters

Plus he'd also play any famous game as long as it catches his attention

He's also the one who got Aunt Y into Resident Evil in the first place

They said he couldn't get pass a boss and called her to play it, then when she got pass that, she wouldn't let go of the controller

TBH I see that happening so vividly

Now here's a little thing I noticed while typing

I've played one game from each other their genres at least once

I finished Uncharted on the PS Vita (I specify this because hand held games are really short compared to PC and console games so not exactly a great feat)

I've played that NBA game (which I was horrible at but hey) and Call of Duty (although I owe my skills to someone else)

And I got hooked on Diablo III despite not knowing what the hell is ever going on in that game

I really am a fucking amalgamation of all my aunts and uncles

Soooooo with that being said, lets segway over to my own preferred game genre

(Beautiful transition)

Surprisingly, the games I end up loving isn't a fusion of all my aunt and uncles' preferences

You see, the games I love are

Detroit: Become Human, Walking Dead, and Undertale; both are choice based RPGs

Minecraft; a sandbox game with a survival and creative option (as if you didn't already know that from my last ramble)

Vanishing of Ethan Carter and What Remains of Edith Finch; both are games that creatively tell stories to exploration type gameplay (although I've only gotten to watch playthough of both, I'd love to play these)

Slimerancher; where you sit back and explore the world, collect slimes and feed the take care of them

Tekken and Injustice; both are fighter games with an Adventure and Story Mode

and some more but I was stuck on Minecraft and Undertale for so long I kinda ignored some good games along the way so I can't remember any more games

Now for my cousin who I will be calling Little B or just B for future reference

Minecraft

Yes of fucking course he took after his basically older sister and is currently stuck on Minecraft

He's played other games

But he always goes back to Minecraft

I'm not really disappointed or surprised in any way

but still I'm just-

I can't even explain what I'm feeling

Frustration? Pride?

I don't know

I just know there are times when he's too much like me

Anyway to conclude:

A good portion of my family likes video games and that will apparently continue on into the next generation

Everyone also loves books but that's a different topic
