Bia's worst fear came to life ten years ago, when she lost her best friend, her older sister, in a car accident. Heartbroken and still healing ten years later, she finds herself in another case of tragic heartbreak: finding out her crush is related to the family her parents have been at odds with for the past decade. Which can only mean, her chances were finished with him. It wasn't going to happen, not with his family standing in the way. And she just had to face the truth. But it was so impossibly hard to let go of him. Sure it could be his pretty smile or hair, or his amazing talent singing and playing the piano. But what amazes her is his warmth, his comfort. He makes her feel things she has never felt for any other person before. She has this pang of relief that she can find herself talking on end to him with such ease. That she can let her guard down completely and he'll be there to listen to her every word, so intently, so respectfully in such a blissful manner. It shocks her still. And yet, she lost that.

Three days have passed since her family's encounter with the Gutierrez's at Rodeo Bay. Her heart still stings a bit, but not as much as it initially did before. But still, she continues to check if there are any new texts from Manuel, voicemails, DMS anything. Nothing more than those initial few texts that he had sent to her that day that she decided against responding to. But still. Going this long without hearing from him fills her empty.

As if on queue, her phone begins to buzz in her hands, interrupting her Instagram scroll. It's been three days she thinks. He deserves more explanation. But before she could mentally say anything else, she opens up the consecutive messages he sent.

Manuel 19:34: Hey

Manuel 19:34: Tomorrow morning can you please meet me on the balcony.

Manuel 19:34: It's really important.

Bia 19:35: But what about Alex.

Manuel 19:35: I'll take care of him. I just really want to see you. Need to see you.

She types out an ok. Typing and retyping a "you too," at the end of it, before deciding to just leave it out and let her heart swell. She clutches the phone to her chest feeling airy with a mix of nerves and sweat. She never thought a few days without seeing him would make her feel this high. So juvenile with a schoolgirl crush, but somehow she likes that feeling and knowing he feels the same way, there was a comfort there that let her take that fall.

The next morning at the Fundom she rushes into the lobby searching all around for Manuel. He did say the balcony, she looks his text for the hundredth time that morning just to be sure again. But seeing an empty lobby made her nervous. Probably because it just opened not to long ago, but seeing him through the glass outside, on the bench with his knee bouncing up and down nervously, made her stop and smile. Watching him play with his hands erratically, shaking his head from side to side as a nerve let out. The nervousness was very evident in him, which is something she rarely ever sees but makes her feel not alone anymore.

She carefully steps out onto the terrace where once he hears her step, he looks up with a sly smile and softly walks closer over to her. Once he's stood in front of her, towering over her tiny body, his smile softens, looking into her gleaming brown eyes. "Hi," he whispers. She manages to choke a hi out as well. She can feel herself start to sweat already. God, she wanted to hide.

He stands awkwardly for a moment before taking a tiny step back, to get a better facial connection. "How have you been?" he asks. "With your family and all?" he shrugs sheepishly. She shrugs back more uncertainly. "Well, it's been functioning, better I guess....... More importantly, how's yours?" proceeding with caution, knowing his answer is going to be exactly what she was afraid of. He winces in pain, physically feeling the tension he's received. "Miserable?" he admits. "There hasn't been a moment of peace in the house. "Not for me, not for my aunt and uncle, much less Victor..." his voice fades. Bia can't help but shed a tear, knowing that her family is at fault for this. Or more like knowing his family is the one throwing the blame around. And seeing him this broken and burned hurts her in a way she hasn't felt for years.
