Morning//Wynd Camp
Adrianna woke up, still a little on edge. Shaking her head, she tried to focus on what needed to be done today. She had to prepare more potions and mixtures, and gather some more of the special plants that only grew near the southern forest plains.
She yawned and stretched, and trudged out of her bed. Like all the other beds in the camp, it wasn't remotely comfortable, however anything can seem comfortable when one is tired. Her hut in particular was larger than the most, because she used to share it with her mentor. It was custom for Healer trainees and their Healer mentor to share not only their distinctive stronghold but also a hut in which to live. It was easier that way, as Healers held many of their supplies in their own living space.
After the death of her mentor, Adrianna had gotten used to the typical rhythm and routine of a Healer's life. She was still young and hadn't quite finished her training, but there was no one else left in Wynd to teach her the ways. She had heard rumors that during the next bi yearly trade meeting with other human clans nearby a Healer would come and stay in Wynd for some time to complete Adrianna's schooling, however Adrianna didn't imagine that to actually be true. Although there were a handful of other human clans that shared the vast continent, Wynd was the farthest away from all of them, and never usually met with any other humans. Wynd thrived by itself, and had the reputation of being a mysterious yet powerful settlement that many beings would never dare to enter, due to its long-lasting practice of extreme isolation.
Adrianna ran her fingers distractedly through her blond hair, which had gotten fairly tangled- her fingers got caught in various knots and snarls. Sighing, she went over to the sheet of glass which lay on a wooden table along one of the shelved walls, which acted as a makeshift mirror. She had forgotten to brush her hair last night, so her hair was very messy this morning, and Adrianna grumbled. Having decently curly hair, it got problematic when it wasn't smooth. Carefully she reached up and grabbed a small and shiny object, intertwined in her hair by her right ear, usually displayed in a Healer's hair as a pretty decoration and also a practical tool.
Adrianna examined her blytz- which was a tool designed to help Healer trainees concentrate their Iyce on the specific tasks designated to the Healers. The blue and silver metal of the blytz shimmered, beautifully showing off the multiple cracks on its side. Adrianna's face fell in disappointment. Well, at least now it made sense as to why she was having problems creating the different mixtures needed the past few days.
"Dragon scales..." she muttered absentmindedly to herself. Dragon scales, when mashed thoroughly into a fine powder, served to almost regenerate Iyce powers, and they were used to fuel and heal a broken blytz. She looked up from the small object in her hands back to her reflection in the mirror, noticing her half-brushed hair. Quickly, she finished smoothing it out, until it looked relatively decent.
"I'll have to ask Milikra about fixing it," she said yet again to herself. Then she stopped, remembering how the Leader had confronted her yesterday. She grimaced, not wanting to bother Milikra again.
"Fixing what?" a scratchy voice from behind her inquired. Adrianna jumped, and dropped the brush she was holding. It clattered against the wooden table, and Adrianna turned to face the figure behind her.
It was an adult woman, with thick and voluminous silver hair. Her hair almost seemed to glint green in the light, which contributed to her uneasy demeanor. She had her hands carelessly on her hips, and seemed very relaxed. Instantly, Adrianna recognized her as Krys, another Hunter.
Krys had the same look as Nixi, but in a different way. She was, like Nixi, rumored to have encountered horrifying events of massacre, but instead of taking the news calmly and moving on, she let it consume her, changing terribly. Krys had unusual, reptilian green eyes, that always shown with a sort of insane light. She had a twisted, maniacal personality, but she had shown herself to be a good fighter. However... if anyone could ever be suspected of being a dragon, Krys would be the one.
Adrianna shook her head lightly. Why was she thinking of this now, letting herself cast suspicion on her clanmates? "N-nevermind that," she stuttered nervously. "Why... why are you here?"
Krys shrugged, as if it wasn't important. "I was looking for some- ah, there it is." She walked past where the confused Adrianna stood, and delicately snatched two of the yellow herbs that lay on Adrianna's working table.
"It wasn't in the other building, and I need some of this for my arm. It's getting better, but ya know, it's still painful," Krys explained.
"You- you know that knocking is a thing, r-right...? Like, closed door..."
Krys tilted her head and sighed. "Yeah. I suppose I should do that. Anyways, what were ya mumbling to yourself about?"
Adrianna help up the cracked blytz. "Just this," she answered. "Usually Sylvia would fix it for me, so now I'm just realizing that I don't know where to get the dragon scales needed."
"Y'all fix that thing with... dragon scales?" Krys asked, eyes widening in curiosity and amusement, but not surprise.
"Oh- well- yeah," Adrianna wasn't sure how to respond. "It helps restore the Iyce..."
Krys nodded. "Well, try the storage tent."
"I don't think it carries dragon scales. Besides, it's a building, not a tent...?"
Krys shook her head. "Nah, not the official storage building, I mean the small tent next to the Leader's stronghold."
Adrianna backed up a little, unsure. "You mean... Milikra's private tent?"
Krys waved her hand as if waving Adrianna's doubt away. "Don't let that scare ya. She just stores things there, I'm sure ya could find dragon scales inside it."
"Are you meaning for... me to actually just walk in there, or...?"
"No, just ask Milikra. She'll get it for ya or something. I'm just guessing that's what Sylvia did. Or she had access to the tent and just walked in. I don't know," Krys finished, looking uninterested.
Adrianna sighed. She'd just ask Milikra for help. She should understand. Besides, Adrianna couldn't continue her work until her blytz was fixed, anyways. Otherwise the job would take twice as long, as she would spend more time than needed just attempting to summon her Iyce and concentrate it on performing the tasks needed.
"Thanks, I guess. Now please get out."
"Sure thing," Krys flashed her a grin, and proceeded to leap out of an open window just two rooms away.
Adrianna didn't know how to react. She only made a small note to herself to perhaps start barring her windows, but then shrugged it off.
