Prologue

I remember that I was going the speed limit. 60 mphon a country road. I only had the radio up a little so that I could keep from falling asleep on the dark road. I looked to my sides to watch for any little animals and did not see the car coming. They didn't have their lights on and they were going at least 80 mph. They car swerved between lanes like it was drunk but I had seen it too late and they had collided completely with me. I heard a few sickening cracks, and felt the wind knocked from me and something like whiplash, but then the pain took over so completely that I fell to unconsciousness.

Lights on the road. My eyes opened briefly as I heard a car engine turn off and a door slam. I heard clicking heels on the pavement and moaned for the person to hear. I knew that if they could hear me they could help me.

I heard the heels click back to the car where they'd come from and then listened to a trunk creak open. I heard some rustling and finally the clicking heels again. They walked away toward the place where I imagined what was left of the othert car was. I heard screams of agonizing pain and curses burst inot the sky and wondered what the heels were doing to the other people. Then I heard nothing. After a few moments I heard the heels click toward me and finally stop as they reached my door. Something gasped and began to bust away at what was left of the window. In my ear a calm soft voice whispered, "I'm going to pull you out. It's going to hurt." And all at once the pain came back. The heels cut away my seatbelt and pulled me through the window. The voice stumbled back with an oof! at my weight. They carefully pulled me over to the grassy side of the road and laid me down. I heard a snap as a phone flipped open.

And then, "Mom, Dad, I need an ambulance. There's been an accident." The voice gave the street signs and any mile markers to the phone and then hung up. The heels picked something up and made their way to me. I felt the presence of someone near me. I couldn't open my eyes, though they fluttered.

"Sshhh, don't worry. There's help coming and I'm going to splint your breaks and clean you up a bit." The voice gave me strength and I opened my eyes to see a dark-haired angel standing over me. At least that's how it seemed as her headlights made her glow. My eyes rolled involuntarily and I strained to keep them focused on her face. She splinted my breaks. When I stifled a cry by biting my lip she soothingly spoke and pushed hair back from my sweaty forehead. She put the splints on my left leg, and my left arm. She said that the whole left side of my body was in trouble. I could feel the broken ribs and bruises and gashes and cuts oozing warm liquids. She searched thoroughly for cutsand gashesd and treated them even sowing a deep cut in my arm that was fatal to a vein. She gave me a painkiller and sweeped the hair from my eyes one last time before taking her supplies back to her car. Thats when I heard the ambulance sirens and I heard her sigh in relief.

After a few minutes I was loaded up into the ambulance and hooked up to painkillers and driving tothe hospital in Savannah, Georgia.

Chapter 1 New Beginnings

Arya~

"Arya!" My mother called from down the stairs of the plantation styled home. "Come eat breakfast! I made your favorite!" I smiled and glancing one last time at my fresh makeup and wild spirally hair I grabbed a sweater to go with my skinny jeans and black tee shirt and ran down the beautiful old stairs. In the kitchen mom in her bath robe was cooking eggs, bacon, and chocolate chip pancakes in the skillet. I smiled and took a plate from her. My brother Cavan came down the stairs.
