Of course the first time I used my powers unsupervised I accidentally hit Ray in the face. With a door.

Basically we were walking to their meeting room and I was still itching to try out my newly found powers, so naturally when we reached our destination I decided to open the door with my powers. I concentrated on the doorknob, acting like I was opening it, and then closed my eyes. I imaged the door sliding and...

"OW!" Ray yelped. I opened my eyes just to see the door fully opened and the blondie gripping his head.

Elizabeth was on her knees cracking up, obviously enjoying his pain.

"So..." Jay said, completely ignoring Ray's injury. "Should we go in?"

I shrugged. "Sure. Why not." We started walking to the door. I stopped by Ray. "Seriously shake it off already."

He just groaned and muttered something under his breath as we walked into the room.

I was extremely surprised when I stepped into their meeting room. It was like our secret room in some ways, with a table in the center and lots of space, but that's where the similarities ended. This room was actually quite fancy and seemed to be air conditioned (unlike all the other rooms, which burned like fire. Especially when Holly was around). Speaking of Holly there she was pacing around the room, her hair still on fire.

"You need to calm down! It was her first day using her powers. Remember the first time you used yours and you accidently set Ray's pants on fire?" Travis was sitting on the table trying to calm her down.

She didn't respond but just looked up and shot him glare, nodding her head sideways toward where Jaylee and I stood.

"You don't have to pretend like you weren't talking about us," I told them. "Holly's blazing hair and her yelling earlier said enough."

Her glare moved from Travis to me and it made me smile. I wasn't going to let her get away with yelling at Jay.

Ray finally trailed into the room with Lizzy right behind him. She looked like she was going to burst into laughter at any moment.

Calm down, I thought to her. An uncomfortable look flashed across her face. She must not have enjoyed the fact that I could speak inside of her head. That made my smile bigger.

"Welcome everyone to the Ray Cave," the blondie said as he spread his hands out wide.

"We did not agree on that name," Holly snapped, the flames on her head growing larger.

He held up his hands in defeat. "I thought I'd give it a try. Anyway we are here for a very important reason. Based on your performance of your powers today you'll definetly be needing more training." Ray glanced at Jay and glared at me. "So for that very reason every morning you will be meeting us in the training room."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa," I protested, holding up my hands. "We never agreed to staying here as your prisoners! You have to let us go home eventually!"

Ray sighed. "Why is this always a problem? What do you people have to return for anyway? There's nothing important at your house."

"Um I kinda think I need to see my family," Lizzy said.

"Yeah and I need to see my cat," Jay added.

"And I really, really need my phone," I put in. Everyone looked at me in confusion. I sighed. "Fine I guess it wouldn't hurt to see my family either."

Ray rolled his eyes. "We'll let you go and see your family soon. But you'll need to come back. The world... Well it's not the safest place for Immortals."

I arched an eyebrow at him. How could it be dangerous for people who could only die in one way?

Seeing that I was skeptical Ray went on. "David there are people with powers other than us. Not very many but there are some. And those people... Don't generally like our kind." His eyes went distant as if he was remembering something. He shook himself out of his daze and looked at us. "Anyway though we'd like it if you stuck to our schedule. It would make things a lot eas-"

But he didn't finish. A boy rushed in the room and dropped to his knees. At first I thought he was injured, but I then realized that he was just panting, attempting to catch his breath.

    "Aaron?" Holly asked. "What's wro-"

"Someone intercepted this," the boy who had just ran into the room wheezed. "You really need to read it." He stumbled over to Ray, handed it to him, and collapsed onto the floor once again.

"Aaron!" Holly exclaimed. She rushed over to him and kneeled down beside him.

Beside her Ray had gone pale. Travis walked over and read what was on the paper and the color drained from his face as well.

"Well?" Jay asked. "What does it say?"

The only answer we got was the strangled squeak that came out of Ray's mouth.

Finally he found his voice. "We... We might..." the blondie's voice trailed off. "I don't think you should make that trip to the Surface anytime soon."

    "Why not?!" I yelled, furious.

"Read it," Travis said, sadness dripping in his voice. "Read it to them and they'll understand."

A feeling of dread crawled into the room as Ray looked up at us.

"It says... It says," Ray stammered not able to get the words out.

Travis ripped the crumpled piece out of Ray's hand. "Guys don't go and jump out of the window when I read this. Okay?"

I glared at him and noticed that the walls were, in fact, glass, tinted black.

"We won't," I informed him. "Just go ahead and read the stupid note."

He took and deep breath and read, "Jaylee Risk, Elizabeth Jade, and David Stone need to be killed."

A lot of things happened at once after that. Jay disappeared into the shadows, the walls froze solid, and the table in the center of the room flew up to the ceiling.
