the whole house was coated in the smell of vanilla, the warm evening sun shining through the thin curtains of her room, illuminating it beautifully. HYESUN sighed, blinking into the sunlight, a smile tugging on her lips.
only five more minutes. she thought.
when her melodic alarm went off and she skipped into the kitchen, almost falling over the huge package she had meant to throw away weeks ago, she didn't exactly expect two boys in the middle of the cooking space.

HYESUN's breath hitched, as her phone plummeted to the floor, screen shattering.
"what are you doing in my home?!"
she screeched, taking a few brave steps forward, before stumbling back, met with two fierce gazes.
"i could ask you the same thing. who are you and what are you doing in my home?"

the girl raised an eyebrow at the shorter boy, scrambling for her phone and slowly dialing 911, eyeing the two boys carefully.
but when the blonde boy ran towards her, ripping her cell out of her hand and throwing it out of the open window, she lost all patience left in her small body.

"what the flip?! that's my phone!"
the boy stood in front of her just shrugged, while the boy, who hadn't left his original spot in the middle of the kitchen, now pointed an arrow at her.
"get out of my house, you ugly empousai. before i'll kill you."

without further warning, the boy rushed towards her, arrow just high enough to pierce right through her heart. HYESUN was way too young to die this tragically and so she resorted to screaming for help.
"AUNTIE! please help! there's a killer in our home."

she squeezed her eyes shut, getting ready for a huge impact and rehearsed her last words in her head once more, before letting out one more horrifying scream.
but, much to everyone's surprise, the sharp tip of the weapon bent right in front of her face, dropping to the floor with a wrenching sound.

"wait, you're a.. mortal?!"
the guy, who kind of resembled a quokka, questioned, swallowing hard. but before HYESUN's confusion could turn into words, her aunt stepped into the kitchen, breaking into happy laughter soon after, acting as though her niece didn't almost get killed seconds ago.

"JISUNG, my darling. what are you doing here?"
she embraced her son and pecked his cheeks.
"would anyone care to explain what exactly is going on here?!"
HYESUN asked, looking around, fear and anger in her eyes.
she pointed at the bent weapon that had lost all shine it had before.

"oh, hey miss han... and miss han junior?"
a third boy stood in the doorframe separating living room from bathroom and waved at the group. everyone seemed to be so oblivious to the fact that HYESUN was almost killed just now and so she just pushed through the boys, to the oven and got out her vanilla muffins, burning her hand on the tray in the process.

"ouch! damn it.."
she cursed and was about to pick the still very hot tray up again, when the freckled boy pushed her away and lifted the tray for her.
"you're pretty stupid, even for a mortal. it's hot, you should be more careful next time."

"thanks, captain obvious."
she muttered and turned her back to him, feeling his stare burning holes into her back.
