Chapter 1 The Rats

Hailey McNeil is new in the town of Hawkins she is 17 years old . In the summer of 1985 Hailey and her family moved to Hawkins. Hailey was not so happy when she found out that she had to leave New York. She was born, and raised there, and she had to leave all of her friends behind, but her 13 year old sister Lilly was excited about the move. Lilly; Im so excited about leaving New York to have more adventures. Hailey; How are we even related. Lilly; Hailey, i don't even know why you aren't excited about this new change. Hailey; because im not acceptable of change like you are. They just kept arguing until they're parents interrupted them. Morgan; enough girls. Said they're mom. Hailey; but mom she started it. David; listen to your mother dear. Said they're dad. They just stayed silent the whole ride to they're new house. When they finally arrived, Lilly ran into the house with excitement. Lilly; wow this house looks amazing. Morgan ;there are 3 bedrooms, so you girls get your own room. Hailey;ahh finally. Hailey said with relief. Lilly was kinda upset about not sharing a room with her sister she really loves her sister Hailey even though Hailey is mean to Lilly most times. Lilly; Hailey are you sure you don't want to share a room with me again like we did back in New York . Hailey ; why would i share a room with you again im not putting up with you again. Lilly frowned. Morgan; hey girls help me and your father with these boxes. They took all day helping with boxes. Hailey's parents made Hailey get a summer job as a lifeguard at Hawkins swimming pool. Hailey ; mom, dad, do I have to get a summer job. Morgan; yes you do. David; you start tomorrow. Hailey;ughh!!!. Hailey got ready for her first day as a lifeguard, it was her first shift. Hailey;ugh!,This day is already boring. Hailey sighed the entire time of her shift until she saw some hot guy, it was her coworker. The coworker walked up to her. Billy; hey. He said to Hailey. Hailey; Hello my name is Hailey McNeil, and you are. Billy; Billy, Billy Hargrove. As Billy talked he looked up and down at Hailey . Billy; so you must be new here in Hawkins. Hailey; I am new here. Hailey; my parents made me work here and i don't even like it here in Hawkins. Billy; i didn't like it here in Hawkins when i first got here either, but i got used to it. Hailey; when did you move to Hawkins. Billy about a year ago. Billy; i like your body shape, so firm and nice; he said with a flirtatious voice. Hailey; excuse me. Billy; oh sorry. Billy; you know we should go out sometime to get to really know eachother. Hailey; uh I don't date playboi's like you. Hailey said in a firm voice. Billy; ahh i like it when girls play hard to get. Hailey; im not playing hard to get. If im going to date any guy it certainly wouldn't be someone like you. Billy ; i like that your a fiesty one. Hailey; whatever. Hailey walked off and enjoyed the rest of her break. All Billy could think about was Hailey. Hailey had to do swimming lessons with the people that signed up, and all Billy did was sit and watch her , he had his mouth wide open when he saw her. Mrs. Wheeler (Karen Wheeler ) walked over to billy to say hello. Karen. ; hey Billy. Billy didn't even respond back because he was to busy focusing on Hailey. It was like he was in a trans. Mrs Wheeler tried to get his attention, until he finally stoped looking at Hailey. Billy ; oh hey Mrs Wheeler sorry i didn't see you there. And then he went right back to looking at Hailey. Mrs. Wheeler tried to get Billy's attention again so she just gave up and walked away. After Hailey was done teaching swimming lessons the pool was closed Hailey and Billy where the only two to lock up before they left. Billy went to go and try to flirt with Hailey again. Billy; hey Hailey. Hailey; hey Billy. Hailey;well, i better head home it's getting late. Billy; hey Hailey. Hailey; yes. Billy; we could get to know eachother at the Hawkins Motel if you know what I mean. Hailey; like i said i don't date playboi's. Billy; well how do you know im a playboi. Hailey: i saw other girls flirting with you. Billy;are you jealous. Hailey rolled her eyes at him. Hailey: ha not even a little. They were still talking until they heard a noise in the boys lockeroom Hailey; the pool is closed!! She shouted. Billy and Hailey looked around in the boys lockeroom and they saw something horrible. There were rats everywhere in the boys room and the rats were exploding Hailey and Billy ran out of their as fast as they could. Hailey; what is going on in this town?Billy: I have no idea. They said frighteningly.
