Mia POV:

We were driving home when Ethan asked me the one question that I was dreading. "Mommy, who was that man at Gary's house?" I need to stay calm. "That's Gary's Son Ethan." He nodded then said "he has the same eyes like me and Gary." Damn this intuitive child. "Yeah baby, but lots of people have blue eyes." He nodded again. "But you have brown eyes and Jack has green eyes and David has brown eyes like you. So why do I have blue eyes?" Oh crap. Crap! Crap!

Think! Think! "Well baby, your grandma, mommies mommy has a lot of blue eyes on her side of the family." He looked like he was thinking but finally nodded. "Will I ever meet my family?" I sighed. "Well you know your uncle John. And Uncle David." He sighed. "You said grandma and grandpa are I. Heaven." I nodded and looked back at him. "What about my daddy and hisbparents!." Oh fudge! "You'll meet them one day baby." He looked sad. "Promise mommy?" God I can't lie to my kid. I just nodded.

Thank god his favorite song came on the radio and he stopped asking questions. What am I going to do. He's asked why he doesn't have a daddy before, especially when he sees his friends at school who have dads. But I've always avoided it and told him every family is different. And he has Uncle David and Jack and his uncle John who lives in Colorado. He's always just dropped it after that. I'm afraid I won't be able to avoid the questions as he gets older. How do I tell my amazing child that his father didn't want him. That his father left me when he found out about him and then signed over any rights to him. Crap!

When we got home it was still early, only 3pm. Jack is off today. He was actually off yesterday too but still came to the zoo with us. I honestly don't know why Jack stays on as Ethan's Nanny. He has a good job but decided to get his masters. That's why he took on the job. But since he graduated he got a job at a university and could go on full time. But he chose to stay part time so he can still be around Ethan. I asked him before why and he told me he feels lucky to be part of our lives and couldn't imagine not being around to see Ethan grow up. Ethan is such a bright kid and I know a lot of it has to do with Jack.

"Hey Uncle David!" Ethan chirped which drew me out of my thoughts. "Hey little man, you guys are home early." Ethan nodded. "Gary's Son came over and he was mad so mommy and I went home." David looked at me wide eyed. Then he quickly recovered and asked us both to go to the movies with him. We decided to go. We went and saw Incredibles 3 and I loved it. I'm like child when it comes to Disney and Pixar movies. After the movies we grabbed some pizza for dinner and headed home.

I gave Ethan a bath and read him a bed time story. "Good night mommy, night Uncle David." I turned around to see David watching us from the door frame. "Night little man." I turned off his light and left his room.

I tried to walk past David but it didn't work, "I don't think so babygirl, get your butt downstairs and start talking." I sighed but obliged. We sat down in the living room and David poured us each a glass of wine. "Okay, now spill!" I took a big sip of my wine and told him everything that happened. Then I told him about all of Ethan's questions. He wasn't too surprised. "That kid is smart, you knew these questions were going to come sooner or later." I know he's right but I won't admit it to him.

I decided to change the subject and we talked about his love life and work. I gossiped about some of the office flings happening at my job. We ended up finishing two bottles of wine before we went to bed. I'm so lucky to have David as my best friend. He knows me so well and he has honestly been amazing and so supportive since I became pregnant.

The next morning I woke up with a slight hangover. Damn David and his wine, I groaned. Jack is watching Ethan today since Ethan's summer camp finished. David begged me to ask my boss off Thursday's and Friday so we can go to the hamptons. I know Alex will have no issue with it since realistically I can still work from there. I took a shower and decided to wear a tight beige pencil skirt with a white blouse and black blazer. I matched it with my black stilettos. I wore my hair down and did some light makeup. Once I was satisfied I grabbed my bag and headed downstairs.
