Come to me, come to me little ones with golden curls
Come to me, come to me little heirs with rings and pearls
I see you running through the halls
Your dirty hand prints on the walls
You play knights and thieves out in the courts
While shooting arrows from makeshift forts

Let us pray, let us pray little ones now gowned in black
Let us pray, let us pray little heirs, a father you now lack.
The great king has fallen, his bed now made of stone.
I will keep you safe and from harms way until you both are grown.

Mind me, mind me little ones who hold the world.
Mind me, mind me little kings for whom all power does unfurl.
You don't understand what it is you have.
A crown that between you will split to halves.

Follow me, follow me little ones and in me trust.
Follow me, follow me little heirs for war is on the cusp.
Trail me up this winding stair.
And I promise you'll be without a care.

Hush hush, hush hush little ones we're almost there.
Hush hush, hush hush little heirs, life isn't fair.
I'm locking all the windows and bolted down the door.
For, in the end, it is your heritage I truly wish to store.

Farewell, farewell little ones, try not to cry.
Farewell, farewell little heirs I'll soon be by.
I left you both there and returned to the throne.
A seat gilded with lies and built of stone.

Rest well, rest well little ones all safe and sound.
Rest well, rest well, and by danger you will not be found.
I was startled from my sleep when I'd first begun to dream.
"Where are they? Where are they?" People begun to scream.

What's wrong, what's wrong little ones do not be sad.
What's wrong, what's wrong, little heirs do not be mad.
I raced back to that tower and opened up the door.
But there was nothing to be found except two mats upon the floor.

Im sorry, I'm sorry little ones whose eyes are dull.
I'm sorry, I'm sorry little heirs who've lost their souls.
I then cried out in anguish though I would not admit my fault.
Because I knew they'd never find your bones buried deep within a vault.

I know, I know, little ones who could not stay.
I know, I know, little heirs who now decay.
Someday you both will understand, so I know that you'll forgive.
That in order for the town to flourish, neither of you could live.

I fear, I fear little ones with nails and teeth.
I fear, I fear little heirs now buried deep.
I had fled so quickly from that tower of blood
Careful to scrape away all the mud.

I've won, I've won little ones I fear no more.
I've won, I've won, now I'm the king they all pray for.
Though sometimes when I walk those steps, a crown upon my head.
I hear the sounds of muffled screams, my heart turning to lead.

In the end, in the end little ones withheld in time.
In the end, in the end, little heirs torment no ones soul but mine.
I hear the sounds of echoed laughter when the wind begins to moan.
And see flashes of ghostly faces at night when Im alone.

Come here, come here little ones to whom I bow.
Come here, come here, little heirs who haunt me now.
