[curiosity's colors] - II

No one seems to really understand the lore- I'm so sorry, I'm relatively new to writing fanfic and stuff so I've decided to add in this small section to clear some things up. It may have ruined the effect of this chapter, but that's alright.

Zak is the son of the current ruler of the Blue clan. (His parents are the Dictator and the First Lady.)

The Blue clan is in a long- standing war with the Red clan, as told in the prologue. The war has gone on for hundreds of years, with generations and generations taking on the old posts and continuing to fight in the war.

Sometime in the war, one of these rulers had banned the production of red dye in the Blue clan, and further on, another ruler had made a set of 'government appointed colors', which restricted some colors to be seen in the cities. Therefore, Zak has never seen the color red.

The Blue clan is also ridiculously technologically advanced. They were the clan that originated from research scientists (working in a lab/quaternary sector companies) and they survived through finding a vaccine to the disease. They have continued to break through science throughout the centuries, and now the Blue cities are hailed as 'technological, innovative utopias'.

Though, as the reader reads through this story, you may feel....unnerved by the technology that the Blue clan uses commonly. The Blue clan throws all ethical considerations in science out the window. (No spoilers!)

Zak is deemed not old enough to fully understand the war between the Red and the Blue clan, so he has not known about it yet. He will be told, one day, by his parents, the current rulers of the Blue clan.

And one day, he would be forced to lead the battle against the Red clan, just like his precursors.  

Many other clans had sided with the Blue clan due to their technological advancements, where they had to comply with all the laws that the Blue Clan had put on them, and become citizens of the Blue cities. 

There are many Blue cities, however, that's too much lore for today- so the story will mostly focus on Azure City, the capital city- where Zak grew up in. 

Sorry for the excessive lore or for confusion reading this chapter - the lore will be broken down in the next few chapters and you'll gradually grasp an understanding of it.

Zak was a naturally curious child.

Born a 'risk-taker' and always eager to explore, the peculiar trait was the result of a random mutation in one of his genes. The doctors were bewildered when they processed the fetus' genome after the First Lady's- or, Zak's mother's pregnancy was announced.

It was later reported that he had over-excessive 'curiosity' characteristics that were not initially edited to form Zak. The news caused outrage in the medical departments of the city, with scientists scrambling left and right trying to figure out just why the mutation happened - no mutations had occurred before Zak since they successfully perfected the CRISPR-Cas9 technology ten years ago!

Or so the Blue scientists thought they perfected the technology. Fearing a public outburst, they kept Zak's mutation under wraps. His mother had chuckled upon the news, finding the mutation of the trait interesting. "My baby's special!" And as royalty, she was allowed to keep the mutated gene in her baby after Zak's strange trait of being overly curious was assessed to be harmless.

Zak was born with the curiosity gene that he was not supposed to have.

And it wasn't much later until the Dictator noticed it may put a strain on his education- but it was far too late. Nothing could be modified anymore.
