"He's..gone.." AJ choked out, holding back tears. He walked through the door along with the rest. They were in some sort of waiting room.
Kyla sat quietly, holding Angie and Dani. Dani was dead silent. Most would thought she'd be raging right now but she's tearing up and biting her lips tensely. Angie buried herself into Kyla's jacket, bursting out into tears, wailing. She didn't care if the other found it annoying. It shouldn't be their business anyways. She was mourning the loss of someone close. Kyla gave an anxious glance to Kaylin, Kaylin blinks sadly and looks down, deep in her thoughts. Kyla then observed the rest.
JC was extremely closed off, banging his head softly on the wall. Every now and then he'd bang it harshly, but everyone was too shocked to care. David tried comforting JC but JC ignored David and pushed his hand away, he needed to be alone right now.
AJ was one of the ones who are suffering the most, he let out tears as he went to a corner and put his hand on his head, wincing.
Matthew spoke up. "Why Christian? You realize this is your fault right?"
His words silenced everyone, especially Angie's sobbing.
"How dare you Matthew?" Jc suddenly shouted defensively.
"This isn't just his fault! We were all selfish that we completely pushed Aiden away! That's why he's dead." Burning tears strolled down his face.
Kyla looked at Kaylin, Kaylin was irritated with the argument already.
"Face it! If Christian didn't throw the key so far Aiden would be still alive." Matthew gave a cold glare.
Christian stuttered "I-I-"
"It wasn't his fault." Dani said suddenly, leaving Kyla's arms to face Matthew.
Matthew stared for a moment then said "Keep on telling yourself that, maybe even Christian would believe it."
Dani Matthew and JC then broke out into a heated argument, Kaylin tried to stop it but they were all too stubborn to budge. Angie wailed even louder now because she had another reason to. Kyla glanced at David awkwardly, not knowing what to do.
"It is my fault." Christian's voice silenced everyone.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to throw it so far. But do you think I don't feel guilty?! Aiden was my best friend! I-If I could change it I'd rather be the one who died."
"Christian-" Christian then interrupted Dani.
"No Dani. I mean it. Next challenge I'm-" he inhaled "I'll help you guys, don't worry about me next round okay? As long as you guys survive."
"B-but..it wouldn't make us feel a-any better if you're the one who d-died." Angie said through quiet sobs.
Kyla nodded as Dani said "Angie's right. You shouldn't say that."
Christian sighed. "No I-"
AJ was the one to interrupt Christian
"No Christian. This isn't your fault. This isn't anyone's fault. It's that stupid t-things fault." AJ said, his eye darkened with pain. "Don't blame yourself for this. Please Christian. And please don't die the next round, I can't b-bear losing another friend."
Angie's eyes watered with empathy towards AJ as she found a new level of respect for him.
"You tried to help him Christian." Kaylin spoke "you just made a small mistake. You aren't to blame here." She narrowed her eyes at the screen.
"He is."
Christian was speechless for a moment as he started tearing up. "I-I..I won't ever let you guys down I swear." He looked to the girls, then to JC David AJ and Matthew.
"I'll protect all of you. At least I'll try."
Christian gave a soft smile, but behind it was determination to make his friend in heaven proud.
