Kiada's POV
The sun began to rise on the small settlement of tent, the sounds of screams and people crying out could be heard as smoke began to rise from the far side of the temporary town.
A woman with long white hair held up by pins, wearing a red dress and wrapped in a dark cloak ran through the sea of tent. She dragging behind her a small girl whose brown hair hung loosely to her shoulders dotted with feathers and beads, she had on a light brown dress that was held tight to the waist with a large red ribbon.
"Mummy where are we going, I'm scared" a seven year old version of me cried out her golden eyes shone with fear as a deep mist began to settle in around her.
The older woman hesitantly stopped running and crouched down in front of the girl, her eyes, sharing the same golden colour, looked to the girl trying to mask the fear she herself felt.
"It's ok Kaida, don't be afraid I've got you" the woman tried to reassure her daughter with a shaky voice, she picked up the small child glancing around the mist as she continued running, holding the golden eyed girl close to her chest.
The flash of lightning and sound of fighting could be heard far behind, the small girl peaked over her mother's shoulders to see the fire spreading through the tents and getting closer.
The white haired woman came to a stop in front of a large tent; she glanced over her shoulders to ensure no one had followed before stepping through. She put the girl down and began to fill up a bag with papers, books and food supplies.
"Where's daddy" the girl began to tear up and the sound of soft rain began to hit the tents roof.
The woman stopped packing the bag and knelt down in front of the small girl taking her in her arms trying to calm her. The sounds of fighting and screams were growing closer; the woman pulled her daughter away and looked down into her frightened golden eyes.
"Kaida, it's very important you listen to me now ok, I need you to be strong for me can you do that?" the girl nodded whipping away some tears. "I'm going to give you something very special, it's our clans secret, I need you to take good care of it and tell no one you have it" the girl looked up to her mother seeming to understand her words, she nodded to show she understood.
The woman held out her hands in front of her and the girl hesitantly reached up to place her hands on top of them. The woman began to mutter some unknown words as her hands began to glow white, the small girls eyes widened as she watched the light grow brighter under her small hands.
As the light grew brighter in the woman hands her hair began to slowly darken. Once it was all gathered in the palm of her hands it seeped through the girl's hands and flowed into her turning her hair white.
The girl looked up to her mother, whose hair was now dark brown, "I'll keep the secret" she said a hit of responsibility in her small voice.
The woman smiled down at her daughter and tears began to fill her eyes, she picked up the backpack and placed it in the girl's arms. "Now you have to go run and hide now ok"
"I don't want to leave mommy" the girl protested.
"I'll be right behind you ok? Your strong remember, you be a good girl and keep fighting for me promise?" the woman tried to reason.
