Cas ran over to the bike rack in a hurry after Chess finally let out.
"Dean! Sorry I'm late Ash was determined to prove I had cheated and-"
He stopped talking once he realized that Dean was nowhere to be seen. He frowned and was about to turn around when he felt a hand on his shoulder and flinched.
The hand spun him around only to find- Dean. That son of a bitch.
"Dude you should have seen your face my god! I don't think I've gotten you that good in forever!"
"Dean I barely flinched that can't even count as scaring me!", he protested.
"Me-1 you-0. We're starting this over. No rules. Only scaring."
Castiel shook his head. "Dean were not starting this. The last time we played the scare game do you remember what happened? Do you remember who won?" He started to smile as Dean stopped laughing.
"The past is in the past we don't have to bring up anything about-"
Cas smiled even more, an evil look on his face. "What, that you peed your pants?"
"What?! No it wasn't fair I was 12 and you pulled that over me it was a proper reaction!", Dean spluttered.
"Whatever you say Dean! Now come on I have to figure out how to get chemistry in your head."
"Good luck with that ass-wipe."
They got to Dean's house pretty quickly considering that he was hiding behind every corner trying to scare Cas.
After saying hello to Sam, who was watching some kind of sci-fi show that had a do-wee-do beginning, they went up to Dean's room and sat down at his desk.
"Ok Cas. Teach me." Dean said with a smirk.
Cas opened his binder and pulled out his chemistry notes, mumbling about what a mess he had gotten into.
"Ok Dean so we'll start here, you do know the periodic table right?"
"Cas you have to much faith in me."
"Damn it Dean I didn't sign on for this shit. So we're gonna have to start at the beginning."
Cas had to admit that Dean was pretty smart, he just had a little procrastinating problem. If you could call it that.
After Dean had gotten into his thick head what the noble gases were, Castiel decided that that was enough tutoring for him and slammed his binder shut.
"Ok Dean what did you want to show me?" Cas asked.
Deans scratched his head, almost bashfully, Cas noted.
"Well we need to be at your house, but I learned how to play chess."
"What?! Dude that's awesome! Why?!"
Cas saw again that he looked kinda nervous about it but didn't want to ask him about that now.
"Well you know you play it and I figured since we're best friends and all I should learn how to play so we have something in common."
"That's... That's actually really nice Dean. I wasn't expecting that."
"Yeah well next time I come over I'll play." He snickered. "Who knows, maybe I'll even beat you."
"Keep dreaming, this isn't soccer. Just come over tomorrow my dad will be there and he doesn't give a shit."
Dean nodded. "Yeah I will. And knew since it has been 3 hours since I last ate I am going to eat. Want anything?"
Cas was about to say yes when he checked his phone.
"Shit man I need to go my mom may-"
"Freak." Dean said in a monotone.
"Got me there. So long my friend."

Cas had barely walked in when his mom started his usual questioning. He pushed through with his "yes of course I was only at Dean's and no we don't do drugs" and headed up to his room.
He was heading to his bookshelf when his chess set caught his eye. It had been nice of Dean to learn how to play, it was true that they didn't have much in common. He did wonder why Dean looked anxious when he told him though. It's not like Dean had ever felt uncomfortable telling Cas anything before.
He had heard all about Dean's first handjob from his girlfriend Lisa. And then the blowjob. After that he stopped paying attention to anything about her, and he was relieved when he broke up with her.
Dean had tried since Castiel was 14 to get him a girlfriend, a hook-up, anything. He didn't understand why Cas always declined but eventually gave it up.
Here was the problem with that: Cas was about a straight as a bendy straw. He hasn't told anyone either. Not his parents, not Dean, not even Charlie, who was gay herself. He just keep it in, under wraps, and blocked it from his head at all times.
It's not like he hasn't had any crushes though. He had one on Dean when he was 13, and after that, Garth. He still cringed at the last one.
After he figured out that nothing was going to happen, he just stopped thinking about it at all. It was pretty easy once he had had some practice with it.
Cas shook his head. How did he end up with these thoughts? It had started out with Dean learning chess..? Nope, he wasn't going anywhere with those thoughts. He pushed them back down and went to grab a book.
Throwing himself on his bed, he felt a drop on his hands. He was crying? God no I'm such a sissy, Cas thought to himself.
Opening the book up, he forced himself to read, and distract him from anything in reality.
