I hopped off the plane at (LAX) Queensland national airport and immediately cringed at the noise of the bustling airport. I stuck in my headphones and put my playlist on shuffle, Spring Day by BTS started playing and i immediately calmed down. I pulled the sleeves of my white knit sweater down and went to grab my bag from the baggage collector. I only had a backpack and a large suitcase, which was very little considering this would be my new home until i graduate high school. I rolled my suitcase to the doors and started scanning for someone with my name written on their card. I spotted my ride, who was a tall black haired guy with a contagious smile. I rolled my bag over to him so he could see that i had arrived.
"Hi, you must be Jiah the new intern, my name is Chandler", he said.
"Yes, that's me"
"Good, OK so do you want me to take your bag?", he asked kindly.
"No, I'll be fine", i replied, not wanting to be a bother.
"OK, its only a short walk anyway"
I rolled my suitcase behind me and we made our way to the sleek black car that he drove. In the back seat was a pretty blonde, who gave me a wide smile as soon as i slipped into the car.
"Hi my name is Bindi, i'm Chandlers fiance."
"Hi my name's Jiah"
"What a pretty name Jiah, if u didn't already know then you'll be living with us at Australia Zoo."
"Really?!"
"Yeah, you'll be taking my old room since I've moved in with Chandler."
"That's great, thank you for having me"
My lips twitched into an even wider smile. There was something in the air around these people, a happy vibe. They all had such contagious smiles, i already knew i would love living here.
*Time skip*
We arrived at Australia Zoo and Bindi walked me through the front gates. She told me to drop my suitcase off at the lobby as someone would take it up for me. Instead, she dragged me around the zoo, giving me a quick tour of the huge sanctuary that i would be working in. I adored the animals already. I made friends with a chimp who put her face against teh glass to look at me as i waved ta her. She was the cutest thing. There were also some adorable baby lion cubs wrestling as their mother watched in the shade.
As the tour came to a close, Bindi led me to a giant two story house that i would be staying in. I was introduced to miss Irwin who insisted i call her Terri. Apparently, there would be another someone in this household as Bindi had a brother my age. He was out at the moment though so i would get to see him tomorrow.
I settled into the blankets and sighed as my stomach turned itself at the thought of a new school tomorrow. Everyone here seemed nice though so i'm sure i had nothing to worry about...
