Amelia always found it funny how the weather seemed to be connected to her feelings.

She still remembered the first time she was locked in the tiny and dark room. It was soon after she started with her escapades to the library. She had read a book about a beautiful girl who suffered at the hands of an evil witch. One day, her mother yelled at her and she screamed that she was the evil witch, regretting it the second she saw the woman's face twist in pure anger.

She was thrown into the tight closet, that was never used, and left there for the rest of the day. No light and no food, for disrespect to compare a servant of God to a witch.

Amelia still remembers the storm that came that day. The loud thunders didn't scare her, instead, it was like the universe was feeling her pain.

Since then, the cloudy days were a company to Amelia's bad mood.

So when the weather turned, and the clouds became gray, Amelia's apprehension was felt by everyone near her, super senses or not.

Every time she looked at a window she would shiver, but she tried to not let it win her mind. It is just a storm, she would say to herself, but when the clock hands continued to move, and Ethan, Taylor, and Vanessa still had not arrived, she knew something was wrong.

Sometimes they were late. But they would always call and ask Amelia and Henry to wait for them to eat or to put their food in the fridge if they would be too late attending a patient. They were passionate about what they did, and they would never refuse to help, not even when someone came in after they closed the clinic. Amelia admired them for it.

Leaning on the living room window, looking out anxious for their arrival, Amelia smiled at herself at the thought of their work. Werewolves. Saving lives. Naomi would never believe in this.

The name brought a bitter taste to Amelia's mouth. In her first days at the pack's house, after a few sleepless nights, only thinking about what her mother would do if she knew where Amelia was, she discovered that it's easier to call the woman by her name, instead of 'Ma' or 'mother'. It put a needed distance between them.

In the books Amelia had read in her life, she learned that her adoptive mother was a bad one. But in the days she spent with the pack she understood that Naomi was everything but a mother. Since day one, the wolves treated her more like a family than anyone in her past.

Although Taylor was only two years older than Amelia, she was more maternal towards the omega than her legal mother ever was. At first, it was disconcerting. Being taken care of was not something Amelia was accustomed to. But it didn't take her long to yearn for it. At last in her own way.

She didn't like it when they did everything for her, but her heart would always beat faster when they asked how she was feeling with such a genuine look in their beautiful eyes. She would internally melt every night when Ethan would come to her bedroom only to wish her a good night, and say 'see you tomorrow', as a promise that he would be there the next day.

She was amazed at how they all seemed to catch on her fears even if she never talked about them. They knew about her fear that they would send her away, so they would tell or show her how she was important to them in every chance they got. They knew about the anxiety she felt about their safety, so they would always tell her where they were going, and call her if they were late. To assure her that they were fine.

This thought brought her attention back to the current problem: they still had not called. When she moved away from the window, she heard the familiar sound of Ethan's car. She let out a relieved sigh. They are here. They are safe. She assured herself and waited to greet them by the door.

When the car engine has shut down, Amelia was already at the door. Vanessa was the first to get out of the car, followed by Taylor, and finally Ethan. They got some things in the car's trunk. On their way to the house, they all looked at Amelia and smiled at her, making the omega let out a breath she didn't know she was holding.

"Sorry for being late, pup. We stopped to buy some things." Ethan said when he approached her, giving her a breathtaking smile. She nodded her head and smiled shyly back.

"Yeah. Sorry, pup. I told them we should call you but they said it would be fast." Taylor explained and then shoved Vanessa playfully with her shoulder making Amelia giggle. When the girls passed by Amelia they both stopped to give her a fast kiss on the cheek. For a second she wished Ethan would give her the same greeting. Her cheeks turned pink, and she shook her head at the thought.

She closed the door following them to the kitchen to help put things in place. After they were finished, they all excused themselves to their rooms. Amelia thought nothing of it as she starting cooking dinner.

Usually, everyone ate dinner together, talking about their days and stupid random things. That day though, it was quiet. There were small talks about unimportant things, but Amelia could see that they didn't want conversations.

Because it was Friday, Amelia started making popcorn soon after dinner for their movie night.

It was a tradition before Amelia came live with them. They would all sit together in the living room and watch two or three movies to relax after a long week. Normally, they spent more time discussing what to watch than actually watching them, so after Amelia decided to stay with them, they gave her the responsibility to choose the movies during the week.

She would always ask for their opinion, of course, but the final word was hers. And she liked the task. She had chosen two old alien movies for that Friday, but after the first film, Taylor excused herself, saying she wanted to go to bed. It wouldn't be a big deal if Ethan, Vanessa, and George hadn't used Taylor's excuses and followed her lead, going to their bedrooms.

Amelia looked at Matthew and Henry incredulously. No one ever skipped Movie Nights, actually, they all longed for it. Without four of them, it was obvious that they would have to call it a night too. They cleaned the room and said their goodnights. Henry sensed Amelia's uneasiness and murmured a 'don't worry. It just must be one of the hard days. Working on a clinic has its disadvantages.' But it did little to help her.

She went to sleep with this worry in her mind when the rain started knocking in her window. She felt something was off. She just didn't know what, or why they wouldn't tell the pack. Maybe there was another reason why they were late. Maybe something had happened. Anyway, she would have to wait for them to say something and trust that they would not hide something big from her. After all, they knew about her fears, and they would not let her, down. Right?
