He opened his eyes as he woke up. He rubbed his eyes and let out a small yawn. He stared outside the window. The sun hasn't risen yet, which means he woke up too early again. He always hated days like this.

He sighed, old habits really do die hard, don't they? Well, he guessed that's what you get from having a not-so-normal childhood. Not everyone was woken up at 3 A.M. in the morning by either ice-cold water or electrocuted everyday.

Even until now, he still hates his family with all his gut. Just what kind of a family that would torture their children? All of them are just so sick-minded, he doubted that even a miracle could change the way they think. Especially his older brother.

The boy got out from his bed, glancing at his best friend, as he did. The guy was still sleeping very peacefully. He smiled slightly at the sight. He's really lucky to have met him. He was the first friend he ever had in his life.

He still remember that day so clearly. His friend is still the same stubborn, optimistic & determined boy he used to be and he didn't think that that boy will stop being like that. Or to be more precise, he didn't want him to change.

Truthfully, he had no idea why a person like that guy wanted to be friends with him, who was the complete opposite of him. It was really was like a dream come true. That guy even said that he was his very first friend as well.

Not to mention, that boy helped him changed into a better person. He swore to himself that he will always protect & never, ever betray that guy no matter what happen. Even if that means he had to run away from all of his problems, duties and the expectations that were given to him.

He stopped from his tracks and took a deep breath.

"I'm such a coward, am I? ...But as long as I can keeo him safe, I guess I'm fine with it."

And with that thought, he walked and started to prepare for a new day.
