Along time ago, two women, around the age of seventeen were travelling alone in a carriage. On the left hand side, sat Sarah, sleeping. She had dark brown hair and was average height for her age. On the right hand side, sat Sarah's sister Lucy, reading a book. Both women wore identical billowing voluminous grey dresses and well packed.

The sisters had been travelling far over the last few days, awaiting their destination. Although the sisters were very relaxed, part of them can't help but worry about home. The day they were evacuated was the day that changed their life forever.

The memory of cannons shooting; children, mothers and young women running to hide. The king's army ran to fight the attackers and buildings were seen on fire. Everyone scattered for a better chance of survival, leaving the kings army to defend for the country.

The next day all the children and well educated young women were evacuated to a safer part of the country. All the well educated young women got a carriage to themselves. The sisters were told they were going to their Aunt's who is located in the middle of the country, and so they relaxed. Yet they didn't enjoy the bumpy ride of the carriage, the gruel of porridge fed to them every morning rather then the bacon, egg, sausages, toast, and beans that they are normally accustomed to, but they didn't complain, knowing that they perhaps couldn't pack the good, delicious food in time to evacuate. Surely when they arrived at their Aunt's they'd be given the food they deserve and cherish.

The Carriage stopped in the middle of a small village; the sisters got off in a hurry to see this new place. As they looked around they saw people in poverty everywhere. In a panic, the girls asked the carriage driver if there is some mistake. "Nah, this is where all the evacuees are coming love" said the bus driver. "Just look for your name on the signs"

Lucy started to read all the signs, half an hour later and she spots one with hers and Sarah's name on it 'Luciey and Sarra Harnett' the surname was the only name spelt correctly. The sisters approached gradually, hand in hand looking nervous. "Hello deahs" saws the poor woman, who looks slightly familiar to them. "I'm ya auntie, Rose." The girls look at each over uneasily.

"Hello Rose, I am Lucy and this is my sister, Sarah" Lucy stated politely. "May I ask where our sleeping arrangements are?"

"Ya what?"

"where are we sleeping?"

"oh, right, Of cause dear, just foller me" The sisters followed their aunt to what they hoped may be a good suitable building for them to sleep in.

It had been a two hour walk, and the girls had felt tired, never once had they walked so far without a rest, although their aunt showed no signs of being tired or being nearly there, and so they carried on. "I don't know how much more of this I can take," Sarah whispered to Lucy.

"We must be nearly there now Sarah, don't worry" Lucy nervously said as she walked into a tree, "Ouch." cries Lucy while rubing her head.

"And you're the clever one?" Sarah says sarcastically.

"We r ere now girls" called their Aunt Rose. The girls looked at the building their aunt was referring to. It was a small wooden hut, it looked like it only had one bedroom, and worse of all, there was no upstairs. The sisters were nearly in tears. They were not used to poverty settings and wanted to go back home, but they knew that this dreadful place will be safer for them and so entered the hut.

The sisters stood in the middle of the hut, looking at their new home. They wondered what good could come from this; what adventures lay ahead. "Where is our bedroom Aunt Rose?" requested Sarah, politely.

"Ya looking at it, my 'edroom is just round the corner, but ya gills can stay in this room" Said their Aunt. "Ya need to get an early night as we need to be up early tamorra." Rose trotted of to her tiny room.

"What does she mean we need to get up early? Early for what? Are we going somewhere?" inquired Sarah.

"I don't know" Lucy states worriedly as she and Sarah got ready for bed.

The next day, the sisters were woken up by several cockerels. "It's only five in the morning" mumbled Sarah as their aunt walked in.

"Aren't ya dressed yet. Hurry up, chop chop. We need ta get going" Rose walks straight to the stove and starts to make an English breakfast.

After breakfast Rose showed the girls to a field. "Right then, I will show ya how to milk a cow Lucy and Sarah; I will show ya how to gather the chickens eggs." The girls looked at each other in surprise. They have never lifted a finger before, they weren't expected to. The girls watched their aunt carefully for the task ahead.
