Stand By Me Preferences

Your first argument: Vern

You and Vern never fought. If anything, a playful, lighthearted, joking around was the most 'arguing' you guys ever did. Vern was too caring and sensitive to let anything hurt you, let alone to yell at you. You guys had disagreements, ending in a compromise and or an apology.            Vern was always influenced by his friends to do things, I mean, they were the ones making him ask you out.  Vern just always wanted to make sure you were comfortable around him and that you were feeling loved and cared for.  At one point, you felt, almost overwhelmed by the affection Vern was giving you. I mean, you loved it, who wouldn't, but the consistent nice complements out of no where, surprise gifts, it just seemed like an act, almost fake. You know?    It just seemed suspicious.  Vern didn't act any different then he usually would, maybe his friends were telling him to do this? You didn't mind.  

~~Chris's house~~

While Chris and Teddy were smoking, Gordie turned to Vern. "Did you hurt her or something? Why are you bringing flowers again?"  Vern's eyes got big, "I hurt her? How?" Teddy took out his cigarette, "Bro, stop doing so many nice things for her. What did she do for you? Just do little things less often, she'll appreciate it more." "She's the best thing to happen to me. Showing my ever loving appreciation for her is something that can't be measured in small actions of gratitude. You---"  "Have you ever smacked her ass? Kissed her neck?" Teddy smirked. Vern looked up. "Is that something girls like? Should i do it?" Teddy and Gordie nodded. Vern put the flowers down and left. 

~~a couple days later~~

You and Vern were invited to a book signing downtown. When you got there, Vern didn't open the car door, didn't grab your jacket, just got up and left. Weird. Once you were there, standing in line for a couple of minutes was all Vern needed. "I love you." He said while grabbing your ass. Pushing his hand off your waist you  got him off and said, "Vern, VERN! It's-- It's our turn come on." Vern got red, taking out the book. And every so often after that, the neck kissing and ass grabbing, less courtier and weird witty remarks became, a thing. One day, you had enough.

While leaving one day for the gym, he hugged you and grabbed your ass. Didn't say 'I love you' or anything. You pushed back and said, "What happened? T--To you." Vern took a step back. "Isn't this what girls like?" He said going in for another hug. "W--what girls? Who are you trying to impress? Since when did I become a tool for you to use?" Vern swallowed hard, immediately realizing what his actions were causing to the relationship. "WHY ARE YOU SUDDENLY GRABBING ME AND HOLDING ME LIKE I'M SOME GEM? WHAT'S WITH ALL THE FLOWERS AND NECK KISSES?" WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?" Vern took a deep breath, not raising his voice but speaking clearly. "Y/n, I --I was told by Teddy and them I was, the gifts, I was over exaggerating with the gifts and everything. Overwhelming you, kind of thing. Th--They said smaller actions like, butt grabbing, neck kisses, like that, that's what girls like. I don't know I'm sorry i, the one thing i didn't want to do was make you mad."

You knew how Teddy was, Gordie and them telling Gordie how to be around you. That was just how they were. You knew Vern wouldn't hurt a single soul, let alone try too. You understood what he was saying. "Oh baby I get it. I understand. I know you love be believe me. And trust me when I say, you don't have to change anything. I love the, weird flower bouquets, the gift cards, trust me, you don't need to do anything different for anyone. I love you." You ended with a hug like usual, and Vern learned that not all things that Gordie or Teddy did were necessarily things all girls liked.
