Chapter 8: The Dimholt Road

Estelwen (Alastegiel) POV

“What kind of army would linger in such a place?" Gimli asks as we are going down the Dimholt road.

“One that is cursed. Long ago, the Men of the Mountains swore an oath to the last king of Gondor, to come to his aid to fight. But when the time came, when Gondor's need was dire, they fled vanishing in to the darkness of the mountain. And so Isildur cursed them never to rest until they had fulfilled their pledge. Who should call them from the grey twilight? The forgotten people. The heir of whom to oath they swore. From the north he shall come. Need shall drive him. He shall pass the door to the Paths of the Dead." Legolas explains.

When we see the Doorway to the Paths of the Dead, we get off of our horses and walk them.

“The very warmth of my blood seems stolen away." Gimli says as we approach the doorway. I start to feel panicked, but I keep calm.

We come to a halt at the entrance and Legolas reads what it says above the doorway, “The way is shut. It was made by those who are Dead. And the Dead keep it. The way is shut."

All of the sudden, wind blows out and the Horses get scared and run off. “Brego!" Aragorn calls, but they just keep going. “I do not fear death." Aragorn says, the walks in the doorway, I follow after him.

I can faintly hear Gimli say, “Well this is a thing unheard-of. Elves will go underground where a Dwarf dare not? Oh. Oh, I'd never hear the end of it." Then I hear his footsteps follow after us. Legolas must of followed right after me. I just hope we will make it out of here alive.

Sorry it is short. I am going to try to update again tomorrow. But I am especially sorry for not updating this book for about over a month. :'( I feel so horrible for doing that to you guys. I am soooooo sorry, and I really hope you can forgive me. I have just been busy with school, working on my other books, etc. I hope you have enjoyed this chapter.
