Pura's POV

Pura stood in the middle of the hectic Platform, trying to make herself as small as possible. Only a mere five feet away, Remus was being kissed and hugged and fussed over by his and Pura's parents.

"Oh Remmy-Bear, we'll miss you so much, I have no idea what we'll do without our little star around" Mother cried whilst pulling Remus in for another bone-crushing hug.

"Well, you do have a daughter, you know, you could always, how do you say, be her parents for once?" Snipped Remus defensively, his voice laced with frustration and disappointment.

If their Mother had heard  Remus' remark, which she very probably did, she chose to ignore it and continued fussing over him, as per usual.
Eventually, Remus managed to escape from his mothers sausage-like fingers.

"Listen Mum, the train is going to leave in a few minutes and I haven't been able to SPEAK to my sister today, never mind bid her farewell, so if you'll kindly excuse me."
Remus went bustling over to Pura, very much flustered and Pura did not hesitate to run into his open arms.

"Do you have to leave Rem, do you REALLY have to?" The big doe eyes she gave REMUS were undeniably persuasive in most cases, however Remus had mastered being unfazed by them, or so he claimed.

"I'm sorry Pura, you know I have to go, but look at the bright side, I'll be back in a few months and you'll be joining me next year, sound good?" asked Remus, presumably attempting to sound reassuring.

"Well, when you put it like that... No not really. But I suppose this is the least you deserve, just, make good, trustworthy friends, don't judge yourself to much you insecure son of a bitch and by GOD let the nurse help you on full moons, sound good?" The ten year old ranted in retaliation

Remus chuckled fondly " Yeah that sounds good Pure, I'll see you soon, I love you" he hugged the girl once more before hauling his trunk up and boarding the glimmering, scarlet steam engine.

"Yeah, see you soon" Pura muttered to herself.

*************************************

The weeks dragged on and on, the aura of the usually wholesome home was dreary and miserable without Remus. Pura had been getting hell from her parents, according to them, she was too clumsy, not good enough, she was completely flawed. She was worthless, and she was finally beginning to believe it.

Of course she wouldn't let it show that she was slowly crumbling on the inside, she wouldn't give her parents the satisfaction. So she became a happy, cheerful girl who seemed to be in a constant state of ignorance towards the negativity surrounding her. Every hit, every kick, every curse, every criticism, all flew past her, she would not let her weaknesses show.

Remus did seem suspicious about her change of attitude, but he brushed that aside as him simply not used to seeing her so, full of life and childlike. The thought alone of being surprised at a child's happiness is utterly terrible, but it was true.

Remus did question her about it on one occasion, she claimed that she was just happy to see him back, she never mentioned how she was breaking on the inside and the abuse she has been suffering through. Remus didn't need the added stress.

The Christmas weeks flew by and before they knew it Remus was gone again. The months would drag on from then on, still filled with abuse and torture, but Pura still looked so, happy.
