Cuddy caught up to House as he was walking down the hallway to his office. He was late of course, but Cuddy accepted this as one of the realities of working with him.

"Have a case for you" Cuddy said.

"Already have a case" House said informatively.

"What do you mean you already have a case? I give you your cases.  And I'm giving you this one. Whatever fake case you're working on at the moment,  I don't know, building a toothpick wall around your desk, stop it now whatever it is,  you're on this. Your team has had the file for over an hour, they'll bring you up to speed."

Cuddy walked away. House turned to look at her as she went toward the elevator. He was about to yell out something about her butt getting bigger, but decided against it at the last minute as something else caught his eye.

It was Taub. He was outside of the office, huddled in the corner of the hallway, away from everyone. He was doing something. House couldn't quite figure out what it was as his back was turned to him, but he saw that there was something in Taub's hand.  He approached the Nursing station to get a better look.

Taub was on the phone and speaking in a very low voice. House was concerned by this, but also couldn't help himself from simultaneously thinking of ways he could blow it up.  It didn't interest House that Taub was making a personal call and not working on the case (the team already had the entire amount of time that he was late to be working on it  - a break was probably warranted), no, he was interested in why Taub was hiding his personal phone call. What was going on? He got closer.

"Yes. Yes. Me too. Yes, I think I'll like it too. It sounds different.  And adventurous.  And that's the direction I want to go in. Ok. I'll see you at nine."

House was even more intrigued.  And also getting bored, so he walked over to Taub.

"Mornin!" he yelled.

"Jeeeez. You scared me. Why did you do that? Why can't you just say good morning like a normal person?

"Because normal's boring. Who were you talking to?"

"No one" Taub said and started walking toward the office.

"Ohhhhh you little trickster. I know you were talking to somebody, House said while trying to tickle Taub's side. "I know this thanks to the medical marvels of sight and sound.  And that little invention of good ol' Al Bell's you were using. You see, telephones are meant for two people. Or more, if you're into party lines.

"Are you into party lines?" he asked Taub, once again trying to tickle his side.

"Just let it go" Taub said and walked into the office.

"Morning team," House said, as he threw his knapsack over his shoulder hitting the glass door behind him.

"How's my favourite group of talented, health care professionals?

Silence.

Cameron was getting coffee, Foreman had his face buried in the file and Chase was staring off into space, with a slight smile on his face.

"What's with you? House asked Chase.

Foreman looked over at Chase disinterested and began talking about the case. "Ok, 22 year old male, with an abnormal craniofacial growth. It's gotten so big, it's now putting pressure on the brain and is cutting off blood flow. Patient collapsed while walking down the street this morning and since he's been here, he's fainted 4 times, blood pressure's dropped way below normal and his vision's now blurry.  ER put him on blood thinners an hour ago and an an OR is being prepped to get him into surgery.
