the party (part 1)

the drive to the party was pretty silent.
max just stared out the window, trying to calm her nerves.
eleven must have sensed this because she gently placed her hand over max's.

"we're here." billy chirps as he pulls up to the party.
"thank you billy." max and eleven smile as they exit the car.
"have fun!" billy yells out the window.

max watches billy drive away.
there's no turning back now.

max feels like she can barely breathe as they walk towards the house.

"it's going to be okay, max." eleven gives max a warm smile.

max nods, forcing a smile back.

they are welcomed into the house by one of the most popular girls in school.
mikes sister, nancy wheeler.
she was known to be quite rude, but she was usually nice to eleven and max.

"welcome to the party kids! don't drink any alcohol that's being handed out and have fun." nancy smiles.

eleven and max thank her before looking around the house they had just entered.

the house was packed with teenagers.
some of them are dancing to the loud music.
others are drinking something out of a large plastic cup.

i can't believe i agreed to this

"c'mon, let's see if we can find our friends." eleven grabs max's hand as they look though the crowd of people.

max and eleven had checked everywhere for ten minutes and they still couldn't find their friends.

"maybe they aren't here." max shrugs.
"why would they miss out on a party?" eleven raises her eyebrow. "i know lucas definitely wouldn't."
"theres at least over a hundred people in here. it's going to take a while to find them." max points out.
"true." eleven agrees.

max and eleven start to walk downstairs before eleven notices a room they haven't seen before.

"el, what are you doing?" max asks as eleven slowly walks towards the closed door.
"let's look in here." eleven suggests.
"are you crazy? we don't know who's room that belongs to." max tries to reason with eleven.

eleven being her normal stubborn self, ignores max and opens the door anyway.

"eleven, did you hear me?" max whisper shouts as she quickly walks towards eleven to stop her.

before she can, eleven already has the door opened.
max and eleven were shocked by what they had seen.
there were two teenagers making out.

max covers her eyes with one hand and uses the other to reach the door handle.

eleven slaps max's hand away from the doorknob.

"what are you doing?" max uncovers her eyes and reaches for the door again. "let me close the door!"
"that's mike!" eleven gasps.

the two teenagers stop making out and quickly turn their heads to max and eleven.
eleven was right.
it was mike and a random girl.

"ew! why are you two perverts watching us?" the girl shrieks.

eleven ignores her and focuses her attention on mike.

"mike what the fuck is going on?" eleven yells.
"el, i'm sorry, okay? we were just not hanging out anymore and—" mike starts to apologize.
"wait... your still dating that lesbian? i thought you guys broke up." the girl interrupts.

max suddenly recognizes the girl.
it was one of the idiots she had punched for spreading rumours about them.
mandy, was it?

"so your talking shit again, bitch? you never know when to shut your damn mouth!" max growls and charges at the girl.

eleven quickly pushes max back before she can do any harm.

"mike i can't believe you would do this to me." eleven frowns.
"maybe if you showed me attention, this wouldn't happen." mike shrugs.
"are you kidding me? your blaming this on me? you're sick in the head!" eleven yells.
"eleven i—"
"go fuck yourself, mike!" eleven spits and runs upstairs.

max shoots mike and mandy a quick glare before running after eleven.

"are you okay?" max asks when she finally catches up to her.
"yeah, im great! i just caught my boyfriend cheating on me." eleven says sarcastically.
"i'm sorry. that was a stupid question." max chuckles, her face red from embarrassment. "do you want to leave?"
"hell no! mike isn't going to stop me from having fun." eleven laughs.

max was surprised by how well eleven was handling the situation.
it seemed like she didn't care?
she does. it was her boyfriend after all.

"are you sure? i can just call billy right now." max was already reaching for her phone.
"i'm sure." eleven smiles. "mike and i were falling out slowly anyways. i knew we were going to break up eventually."

it was refreshing to see eleven finally admit what max had known all along.
there was something wrong with mike and elevens relationship.

"okay but if you need to leave, let me know." max rubs elevens back.
"thank you. same goes for you." eleven smiles appreciatively.
