“Depression is like drowning,

except you can see everyone,

around you- breathing.”

Sounds stupid, doesn't it?

It's not.

It's crazy accurate,

and the worst part is,

half the world will never even know,

what it feels like to drown,

while standing on earth.

It's like being held under,

with a something pulling you down,

thoughts pushing you up,

memories holding you back,

dreams pulling you forward.

All the same,

you are stuck in this focal point,

never getting away from the center of,

the bull's eye.

It's like falling,

but never being able to get back up agin.

Waiting for rainy days,

instead of sunny afternoons.

Sleeping just so you can with drawl,

from the reality of yourself.

It's like a war you fight with yourself,

so either way you are going to lose,

evern if you win.

Like walking down a dark hallways,

while the walls spin,

your mind runs marathons,

your hopes sprint away.

Wearing scars and calling them battle wounds,

so you can feel better about yourself.

Taking away from your emotional pain by,

causing physical pain.

Having trouble talking to the people

you know are there for you.

You are killing yourself and you don't even know it.

“Depression is like staring at the same ceiling every night,

never being able to look away,

fighting the same demons,

swallowing your own pride,

just so you can wake up tomorrow,

  as a new person.”
