Cool, calm and moderate weather. An inner calmness began to grow within Mack Haynes. It was time to go home. Time to cease labour and time to rest. He climbed in his black sedan car and drove from work toward his home. It took him about twenty minutes to get to his apartment. The damn traffic were surprisingly low today. Or was there something up. The noise was still there. People. Taxis hooting. Heavy machines screaming. The train coming and going. The list goes on. He'd prefer silence and peace. He was happy to go home now. He drove passed a park. He saw the children playing soccer on the grass. An old couple walking their dog out on the park. How wonderful, Mack thought silently. He arrived at his apartment. Parked his car. Climbed out and went inside his apartment.
He took off his suite and placed it on the kitchen table. He took out a glass and drank some water from the tap. He walked toward his room and threw himself on the bed. His mind began to relax as he slowly and deeply inhaled and exhaled. He closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
At 8 a.m. he woke up. Shower and breakfast followed. After that he walked toward the front door to check for a delivered newspaper. There was one. He picked it up and found something else. A letter. He ripped the cover off and read what the letter said. It said: " I know who you are. I know what you did. Our paths will cross again".
