Mrs Destìn had guided Mr Slayden directly to her room. She was frantic throwing out expressions like "I dont understand," and "Why me?". Upon entering her room she directed him to the safe. Or rather where the safe should have been as it had been ripped out completely and was gone. "Who would want to steal from me?" She whimpered."Well what was in it?" Mr Slayden asked trying to calm her down by putting on a brave face and putting his hand on her shoulder.
"Nothing much. About £50 and a set of earrings which I liked but weren't terribly expensive. But in had my locket with a picture of me and my late husband which I adored. It wasn't even expensive. It's just the photo. Its one of the only ones in had left," she started sobbing slowly.
"I am sorry Mrs Destìn," he said, with seemingly genuine sympathy. "Tell me about your husband,"
"I adored him. He was English, he was everything I could want. Handsome and he had a great job. A buisness owner. I was his secretary dont forget until we married. Then he said that we should keep our relationship and work seperate so I started just staying home. It was then that he was taken from me by the monsters. Why??" She broke down completely.
"I am so sorry Mrs. I have just one more question this morning, before she left to see me. Did you leave Mrs Lythgoe?"
"Yes, just before. I needed to sort out my room. Of course when I got back she was gone. That was around 11:30. Then of course about half an hour later she came back panicked because she was late. She said her clock was fast but it seemed to be the same as my watch. She must have got confused," She looked perplexed.
"Thank you miss. Dont panic. I'll find your things,"
Mr Slayden spent the rest of the day thinking. It was all so confusing. Non of his theories seem to fit. He had some tea and some chocolate cake as a snack. Then had goujons for supper and retired to bed early with an old paper from before the storm hit to let his mind rest before he slept. He started fingering through the pages as he rested in his bed. House prices were rising. Increased knife crime across Britain. Museum in south of England robbed.
It was then he had a revelation. He slammed the paper shut. The case was solved.
