Out of all the gems, you were one of the weakest. You're hardness level was 3.6, which was barely harder than Phos, and they broke easily. This trait made you useless on the battlefield, but unlike Phos, you didn't mind. Sensei had assigned you a mundane yet peaceful job, taking care of the jellyfish in the lake.

Today was like any day, monitoring the livelihood of the jellyfish, logging in the number of jellyfish alive, and feeding them. You doubt it would matter much but it made you feel useful and productive.

"So you still have that job? Hm, I wonder how many jellyfish have 'disappeared' since your arrival," A teasing voice spoke out.

You snapped out of your job and looked behind you.

"Pa-Padparadscha! You're awake!"

Padparadscha gave you a smirk and sat next to you, right in front of the water. Their chest was exposed, revealing a red crystalline material that filled the holes in their chest.

"Yep, Rutile filled in the holes with ruby. It seemed like it worked this time." Padparadscha sighed and looked out on the bright green field. "They should just stop trying to save me. It's a waste of time and energy. How long has it been since I last regained consciousness, 231 years?"

You furrowed your eyebrows and held Padparadscha's hand in yours. "Saving you isn't a waste of time and energy. You're the only gem out here who makes me feel genuinely wanted. I enjoy having you around."

You savored the moment that you had with Padparadscha while they were still around. You knew it was only a matter of minutes until they became unconscious again.

Padparadscha smiled at you. "Heh, you're just as I last remembered. Always trying to make me feel better. You know, the weather is really nice out here today. Maybe the Lunarians would come and I can protect you, just like the old days."

"Yeah, maybe we..." You trailed off after noticing that Padparadscha had collapsed on the floor, once again going back to sleep.

You sighed and gazed at them with a forlorn look. "It was nice getting to talk to you again," You murmured as you took their still hand and lightly kissed it.

"I love you."
