I grabbed my books as the bell went off signaling the end of the final period for the day. It was Thursday and i'd almost made it through my first week here. Grabbing my bag from the back of the chair i joined the crowd of students as i made my way out the door. Stepping out into the hall way i made my way down the corridor as i headed to my locker to grab a few books for my assignments.
Walking over to my locker i saw Brooke standing there talking animatedly with her boyfriend James.

"Hey guys" i greeted dryly as i swung my locker open. Reaching in i grabbed my math text book and stuffed it in my bag with the others. Closing my locker i turned my attention back to Brooke who was still talking to James.

"Ah look guys i'm just gonna take the bus home today" i stated with a weak smile as i adjusted my bag on my shoulder.

"Why? You know i'm gonna drop you home since i'm driving past your house" Retorted Brooke with a confused look.

Brooke and i really hit it off from the first day. She lived only two blocks away from me and she picked me up every morning when she drived past. She turned out to be a really good friend but honestly today was not my day to be travelling with a crowd. I just needed to be by my self, to clear my head, and taking the bus home was my best option.

"I wouldn't wanna hold you up, i have a few errands to run" i lied as i gave her a quick hug and waved her a goodbye.

***********

I watched as the bus slowly came to a halt at my gate. Jumping out, i paid the conductor as i made my way to the front door. Grabbing my key i slowly pulled the door as i made my way inside. Slamming it harshly behind me, my body slumped to the floor as the warm trails i'd been holding in all day gave way. I knew my mom wasn't home yet so i didn't have to worry about her seeing me like this.
She said she might have to work late tonight but i knew all too well that it was her way of getting it off her mind. The dreaded day was almost here. Tomorrow would be May 21. My birthday, and my dads. It been almost five weeks since he died and i still can't believe he's not here. I skipped two grades and i'll be graduating this year and he won't be here to share that moment with me

The warm trails turned into harsh sobs that shook my body violently as i rested my head firm against the door.

***********

My eyes fluttered open as i snuggled deeper into the warmth of my covers, a small moan escaping my lips. wait! What? My body shot up in shock. Looking around i realized that i was lying in my bed. How the hell did i get in here? Shoving off the covers i was about to leave the bed when my room door swung open revealing Aiden holding a class of water.

"Hey your up" he greeted me with a small smile as he handed me the class of water.

Taking it from his hands, i took a sip before placing it on the night stand.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, my voice laced with confusion.

"I felt like paying you a visit. To see how you were doing" he replied shyly taking a seat next to me as mixed emotions flashed across his face.
Well thats strange. What happened to the always confident Aiden i thought i knew.

"So how are you?" He asked staring me deep in the eyes and i knew in that moment he wasn't just asking about my day.

"I don't know" i replied honestly as i rested my head in my hands.
