Chapter 6, Lost Friend

Maxie woke up that night after seeing Damien was missing.

"Damien? Damien?!" She whispered shouted quickly getting out of bed.

She looked around the small cabin under the beds and didn't want to alert anyone so she went outside to find him peacefully sleeping on a large tree branch that was large enough to fit another place and his ears randomly flinching.

"Damien... What are you going out there?" She says poking him awake.

He woke up groggily looking around and pierced his eyes when he saw her.

He huffed and faced the other way.

"I see... You haven't seemed to trust me after we stepped into Lotus Town..." She says with a frown.

Damien stayed silent.

"Why did you come if you didn't trust me?" Maxie questions.

"I needed to save Atlas. I'm one of the only panther species that my forest knows so far so, why would I matter here" he says sadly.

"Damien Middle name Last name," she says cause she only knows his first name.

"Damien Fire Moon," Damien says.

Maxie was stunned at first and then continued, "D-Damien Fire M-Moon. Do not think like that. You are special and strong. You have a mother a father and four siblings from what Atlas says. She even told me that when you too we're pups the war?" She says asking if that's what happened.

Damien nods and she continues, "If you were caught in the middle of it and lived that is a sign that you are designed for greatness!" She says smiling and moving around her hands.

"I guess your right but, how should I trust you?" He asks her hid legs still toward his chest and his arms wrapped around his legs as his head was dropped halfway sticking out

"I don't know. I can't control that bit. You just have to choose. I trust you though" she says nonchalantly.

"How you only met me a day ago. How?" He questions raising his head.

"I trust my gut. Everyone relies on instincts to survive. Why shouldn't I?" She says to him looking up.

She sighs.

"How long are you staying out here?" Maxie asks him.

"The night. It feels more natural than a bed" he says closing his eyes.

He doesn't hear movement for a few minutes and opens up one eye to see Maxie on the other side of the branch peacefully asleep.

He obviously confused didn't know what to do. He tilted his head and was about to poke her head to wake her up but instead just sat there.

How could someone so defenseless decide to be at the most vulnerable state next to someone who could kill her in the blink of an eye?

He watched her in case anything happened to her 'like fall off the branch or something'  he told himself.

(I know it's supposed to fall in the category of action, fantasy, and adventure but I couldn't help myself)

Minutes later he went into his panther form and curled up into a ball by her side.

Meanwhile with Diana

Diana quickly strolled through the forest hearing footsteps.

"Diana?" A familiar voice questions.

It was Calla! Diana smiled happily.

"Calla! We've been looking for you for a while! Look if you see any black mist avoid it! It puts you in a trance and corrupts you!" Diana with a worried expression, "We have to warn the packs at the meeting in three days!" She says to her.
