the beginning of an end
An incredulous white light swallowed me whole.
No mercy was shown as I was thrown into the bright void.
My eyes were shut the entire time. The only way I knew that void was white was because I could still see the light through my eyelids. My mouth wouldn't allow me to scream, instead I stayed internally yelling.
It felt like forever until I finally felt something underneath me. It took me a long time a realize I had hit the ground until I started crawling around, patting the ground hysterically.
"You're funny, human." A laugh that sounded like bells ringing was heard from behind me. I changed my posture so that I was now sitting on my knees, admittedly too afraid and slightly mortified to turn around.
"Won't face me, human? Hmm." A pretty face popped beside me, startling me to death.
Ha, get it?
The celestial being was wearing a pantsuit and a slick ponytail. She stuck out a well manicured hand to help me up, in which I complied hesitantly. After I stood, she pulled out a clipboard from god-knows-where to check on god-knows-what. As she wrote some things down with pen, she looked back at me, cat-like eyes smiling.
"L/N Y/N, am I correct?" She asked and laughed when I nodded cautiously.
"Such funny creatures. I'm Jennie Kim, I will be your guide into wherever you end up."
"W-wherever? What do you mean?" It had now occured to me that my voice was back.
"Well, I assume you know you're dead?" I nodded once more.
"Yes. The reaper allowed me to stay on Earth for a few days so I can ease into it." I explained.
"Ah, so kind. He probably pitied you since you were...um."
"Murdered?" I huffed.
"Brutally, yes. But now I'm here as you gurdian angel. You might remember me as," Jennie changed the subject by turning into a beautiful white fluffy cat. My eyes began to tear up.
"Baby?" I watched as she shape-shifted back into human form.
"Yes, I didn't really like the name you gave me at first but I've grown to love it." She smiled. "But back to business. I've got to say Y/N, you are a really special case."
"What do you mean, Ba- Jennie?"
"I don't mind you calling me baby, it's by no means intimate here. Plus you gave it to me personally." She coughed. "And I certainly don't mind you kissing my forehead, petting my hair, and holding my paw- hands."
I laughed at this, she really was my Baby.
"But since you're by no means a saint and you weren't a complete sinner either, the fact that you had died tragically too, doesn't guarantee your place in the afterlife." She checked her clipboard once more. "Maybe we should discuss this while eating something."
I looked at the complete white room we were in, where exactly would we go?
Suddenly, the room began to paint itself and all of a sudden we were in a café full of people. They continued on with their lives as if we didn't pop out of nowhere. There was already food on the table as well, questionably my favourites.
