The Pup

chapter 5

At some point, John comes into the room. "Lexi, your daddy will be ok, he was hurt, but the doctor says he'll be ok in a couple days, do you want to see him now."

Jumping out of my bed, I hurriedly nod my head, still crying. I follow him out of my room and we soon enter another room, and I see my daddy laying on a bed, sleeping.

Running to his bed, I struggle to get on it but I do, "Daddy, doctor says you'll be ok, please get better Daddy," I say cuddling into his side.

I hear sniffling by the door, but I don't move. "Ana everything will be ok," John says. "I know, I'm glad Tyler will be ok, I don't want to see her lose another parent, especially since they just found each other," I hear Ana say.

I soon feel someone put a blanket over daddy and I, and then I fall asleep soon after, cuddled into my daddy's side.

The next morning, when I wake up, my Daddy is still sleeping. Lightly shaking him, " daddy time to get up," I say. He doesn't move, "Daddy," I scream and shake him again.

Ana comes rushing into the room. "Lexi baby, it might take awhile for your daddy to wake up, let's go get breakfast," she says.

"But what if daddy wakes up and I'm not here," I tell her. "I don't want to leave daddy," I say crying.

Ana sighs, "Lexi you need to eat baby, Daddy will understand." "No, I won't leave daddy," I demand. Ana walks out of the room, with tears running down her face.

Laying down on my daddy's chest, I cry. Ana returns with breakfast after awhile. "Here Lexi atleast eat something," she says putting it on a table with a look of worry, she walks out of the room.

Getting up, I pick at my food after turning on the TV. I find a cartoon and lay back down with my Daddy.

"Please daddy wake up, I miss you," I say, rubbing his cheek, with my hand.

The doctor walks into the room. "Any change," he asks Ana. "No, none," she says. "Well the DNA results came in and he's definitely Lexi's dad," the doctor says. "I know," she replies.

"Lexi, dear can you move so I can check your daddy," the doctor asks me. I nod and get off the bed. Watching the doctor, I see him turn my daddy on his side.

Seeing his wounds, I begin to cry, "Daddy," I say. "He's healing Lexi, I'd say he'll be awake soon," the doctor says, "can you do me a favor," he asks me.

I nod my head, "when your daddy wakes up, he has to stay in bed for a few days and make sure he eats, and only gets up to go potty, ok," he says. "Ok," I say with confidence. "You need to eat, to stay strong as well Lexi," he says. I nod my head.

The doctor then leaves. "I'll bring you lunch Lexi," Ana says and leaves the room, taking my plate from this morning.

   "You hear that Daddy, you'll get better," I tell him with a smile. I cuddle next to him, and watch TV. Soon my eyes get heavy and I fall asleep.

   "Tyler, she wouldn't leave your side, she was so scared," I hear as I wake up. "The doctor also confirmed that the tests came back, she is your pup," I hear John.

   I feel an arm wrap around me, and pull me into a chest. I then start to feel drops fall on my hair.

   Opening my eyes, "Daddy," I say yawning, "don't cry." "These are happy tears baby," daddy's says, "so it's ok."

   "Daddy doctor says you have to stay in bed, unless you go potty, and I get to take care of you," I say with a big smile.

   "Tyler she's so cute," Ana says smiling. "I know," Tyler says, "I know."

   Hunter comes running into the room, "Lexi, Xander's here, wanna go play," Hunter asks, excited.

   "I don't know, my Daddy is hurt, I suppose to take care of daddy," I say, cuddling into his arms.

   "Baby, why don't you go play, Daddy will be ok," Tyler says. "But daddy doctor says to stay in bed," I tell him. "Promise daddy will, you go have fun," my Daddy says. "Lexi, dear, I'll keep an eye on your daddy and make sure he stays," Ana says smiling. "Oh, oh ok," I say.

   Giving Daddy a hug, I run off behind Hunter, to find Xander. Finding Xander we got outside in the backyard.

   "Lexi show Xander what you can do," Hunter says excited. I shift into my wolf pup.

   "Wow, I never seen a wolf pup, before, your so tiny," Xander says,"wanna play tag."

   We play tag, me as my wolf and them on two legs. I soon win the game, "no fair, she's faster as her wolf," Xander says complaining.

   Just then I hear faint growls on the other side if the fence. I give my own little growl in return and start backing away, still watching the fence.

   As wolves jump over, Hunter screams and so does Xander. "Daddy help," I think.

   The wolves smell ucky, it and makes me want to hide. I look for a place to hide, looking behind me the porch is the only place. I run for it.

   Before I get there, I yip in surprise as I am lifted up by the neck ruffly. Then I am flying through the air as the wolf is tackled.

   I then land on the ground, and let out a cry. I look up and see my daddy's wolf fighting, and I smell John and see him fighting also.

   I crawl over to the porch and go under it, as far back as possible. My front leg hurts and I let out a wimper as tears fall from my face.

   "Daddy," I cry in my head. "It's ok, you'll be ok," Summer says.

   "Lexi, come here baby," I hear Ana say. Lifting my head I look up and see Ana looking at me and then behind her. "Lexi hurry," she says.

   I crawl to her and she picks me up and takes me inside. We go into a room and she locks the door. "Xander and Hunter are in here to.

   I shift, "Daddy," I cry. "Your Daddy will be ok," Ana says picking me up again. "I was so scared," I tell Ana. "I know sweetie, I know," she replies, as I cuddle into her.

   I don't know how long we were in the room, but soon there's a knock on the door. Then I hear John, "Ana it's safe now." Ana opens the door and John scoops me up quickly and runs outside with me.

   "Tyler, Lexi's safe see," John says putting me down. I run to my daddy and hug his wolfy leg.

   "Daddy, I was so scared," I cry into his fur. He pulls his leg away and runs off behind the play set. "Daddy," I cry.

   He comes back to me in shorts, and picks me up. "Are you hurt baby," he asks searching me. "My, my arm hurts," I say, still scared.

   Daddy sits me down and looks at my hurt arm. "It's just a little sprain,baby, it'll be ok soon," Daddy says, picking me back up.

   We go inside and Ana is working on dinner. "Daddy, doctor says you weren't suppose to be out of bed," I say. Ana starts laughing.

   "Baby, Daddy is strong and all better now," he says with a laugh. "Ok, Daddy," I reply.

   Sitting me in my chair, he sits down next to me. Ana then brings dinner to everyone. Tonight's dinner is chicken, mashed potatoes and cheesy broccoli.

After dinner, I went to my room, where I played with my dolls. Hunter wanted to go outside, but I didn't.

   When bed time came around, Daddy read me 'Green eggs and Ham,' giving me a kiss on the forehead, he covers me up and I fall asleep.
