Susan couldn't fathom the fact that I was the only one who could ever change an enemy's weapon into something so powerful, enough for me to use it as my own weapon. She also said that she could have never thought I would turn out to be so powerful just because I was hybrid and I was gifted with the power of darkness. She said it was one of the highest of forms in the elements along with light. I'd never thought about it that way, I'd never figured darkness could be an element and I'd never thought it would turn out to be far more powerful than the light.
"Practice today everyone, outside in a couple minutes" Margaret looks around at everyone in the cafeteria, "and I mean everyone"
She heads for the doors and leaves without another word.
I sit across from Mia while we finish eating the rest of the breakfast they had delivered this morning. I don't understand why they just don't have people here who can serve us breakfast, lunch and dinner when we need it.
"I don't even want to practice honestly" Mia tells me, she's focused on the empty water bottle she twirls in her hands. Xan sits on the left of her and Jake sits on the right of me. Typical.
"Why, what's up?" I ask her.
She looks up into my eyes before she sheilds her mouth with her hands and mouths the words I'm tired before she smiles.
I shake my head and chuckle, same old Mia. I don't think she'll ever change and I'm glad about it.
We were the first to get up to throw out our trash and leave the cafe to head outside. Everyone else followed behind. Susan wasn't doing any exams today so she and Stacey decided to head out with everyone else to watch and observe how we practice. They both smiled to me as they made their way toward the outside table.
Stacey's almost pure white eyes stood out more alongside her curly brown hair and her black tshirt with dark wash jeans. She climbed into the seat across from me but her foot must've got caught onto the bar under the table so her arms came out and her body drew back crashing into someone else. Alex wrapped his arms around her waist to stop her from falling and she looked back, they both smiled at each other before she tried again. She climbed into the seat, sitting down her face turned a bright red that made her freckles pop. I smile at her.
"Zoe, if you don't mind" Susan starts. I climb out of my seat just as everyone started to head over to the grass.
"Can I borrow your dagger while you practice? I really want to examine it more" her face gives off an intriguing gesture.
I pull it from my pocket and look down at it in my hands. How it fits perfectly as I wrap my fingers around it. And for some reason, I feel it protects me just as well as I protect it from anyone getting their hands on it. I look up at Susan's beautiful elegant face. I wish I'd know her longer then my memory allows me to remember.
I hold it out to her, "sure" I give her a smile and she grabs it and returns one.
"Thank you, I'll be right here when your done"
I nod at her.
Someones in the middle of the circle surrounded by teens with gifts, put on this planet to find their very own purpose for ending up in this camp. I step in front of everyone and I see everyones face but Grace's. I look down at a cute dog with dark brown fur and green eyes, its tail wags back and forth repeatedly while its tongue hangs low. I smile.
"So why can't you shapeshift Dylan?" Someones asks him.
He keeps his eyes on his cousin but clenches his jaw, "I don't know, same reason why Grace here can't fly" he tells James.
