It was now the final few minutes of lunch and Lemon Boy heard footsteps coming towards him. They got increasingly louder and louder and then suddenly stopped behind him. Lemon Boy turned around to see who was behind him, realizing that it was Teddy. Finally his friend had come to have lunch with him! Lemon Boy was about to ask him where he had been all lunch long when Teddy interrupted his thoughts and said, "L.B. I don't think we can be friends anymore." Teddy then walked away just as fast as he had walked up, and Lemon Boy could see tears forming in his eyes when he turned away. What Lemon Boy did not know was that this was one of the hardest things Teddy had ever done. And this had been the most terrible day since his mother had passed away.

When Teddy arrived at school he was confronted by some other students who did not look like they were very happy. They told Teddy that he was a loser for hanging out with Lemon Boy and that if he kept being his friend he'd become sour just like he was. Teddy tried to tell them that Lemon Boy was the nicest person he knew, but they just wouldn't listen.

They pushed him down into a puddle in front of school causing him to get mud all over him. Teddy knew that he couldn't go to breakfast in the cafeteria covered in mud so he had to make his way to the nurse's office to get cleaned up. Come lunch time he couldn't bring himself to face Lemon Boy. He asked himself what he should do and eventually came to the conclusion that he would just tell Lemon Boy they couldn't be friends anymore.

This day was the beginning of days when Teddy and Lemon Boy did not speak to one another. They didn't have morning pastries together, they didn't walk to class together, and they did not get to discuss Moomins anymore. The two were now separated and these days apart turned out to be the saddest days they had ever endured.

Teddy began to hangout with different kids at school, but they just weren't the same as Lemon Boy had been. All of the other kids thought that Moomins was lame so Teddy forced himself to not like the show anymore. He stopped speaking his mind for he feared if he did then his new group of 'friends' would no longer speak to him. He missed his best friend but he just didn't know how to tell him.
