"So, like did I do or say anything stupid yesterday?" Grayson asked, walking into the kitchen holding Hayden.
"First of all, you're not supposed to be up." I said walking over and taking the baby from him. "And second, yes. You said very stupid stuff yesterday."
I sat Hayden in her high chair and continued to cook breakfast for everyone.
"Like what?" He asked, taking a piece of bacon off the plate that it was sitting on.
"Oh you know, just asking your woman to push another kid out not even a year after the first one." Cam said, walking around the corner.
"Yeah. There's that." I said, flipping the pancake that was in the pan.
"Really?" He asked.
"There was also a lot of dancing." Lisa said, walking into the kitchen and over to Hayden.
Grayson's POV
"A LOT of dancing." Haley said, her eyes getting wide, before she laughed. She then stopped and looked down at her Apple Watch.
"Uh, Cam. Can you watch this and make sure it doesn't burn?" She asked, putting her spoon down and stepping back. "I've got to take this."
Everyone turned to look at me with confusion across their faces.
"What?" I asked. "I know just as much as you guys do, it's probably the store."
"Yeah or-" Cam was cut short by the sound of something falling and breaking.
"What the hell?" Cam asked.
I rush over to Haley's office and she was frantically picking up pieces of a broken vase off the ground. Her phone was laying on the ground beside her, the screen shattered.
"What happened?" I asked, trying my best to help her pick up the broken glass but turning my head too much towards the ground was painful because of the surgery.
"I never liked tractors." She said, throwing the handful of shards she had in her hand away. "It's always fucking tractors."
"Babe." I said, grabbing her hands with my own to stop her from frantically cleaning. "You're not making any sense."
"My dad seems to be having a midlife crisis. He bought a motorcycle." She said, not looking me in the eye and tearing her hands from mine so that she could continue cleaning. "I've got to get this all cleaned up before Hayden gets hurt."
"Motorcycle. You just said tractor two minutes ago. Honey you're not making any sense." I said calmingly, again taking her hands in mine to try and get her to stop panicking.
"My dad ran into a tractor on a backroad because he was speeding on his new toy." She said, her shoulders shaking sporadically. I realized then that the cleaning was helping her and I let go of her hands so she could continue clean. "One of the spokes punctured his kidney and he's going to have to stay in the hospital on dialysis until they find a donor because by some twist of fate, my dad gave his other kidney to his best friend two years before I was born."
Honestly, I'm glad she's made me binge watch Grey's with her multiple times or else everything she just said would have confused me.
"So he's on the list?" I asked. She nodded.
"Umm yeah." She said wiping her face. "But umm, Caleb's going back to Virginia today to go and get tested to see if he can be a direct donor."
I then realized why the phone was thrown at the vase, causing it to break.
"And he wants you to go with him in case he isn't a match?" She nodded again.
"But I have a six month old who refuses to take a bottle and a husband who just had surgery so I can't exactly pack up and leave. Not to mention what would happen if I was a match and Caleb wasn't. Then I'd have to stay in Virginia to give him my kidney and then I'd be down a kidney and stuck in Virginia for 6 weeks because you can't travel after a surgery like that. And I just really hate fucking tractors." She said, once again panicking again. "Shit."
I followed her eyes down to where there was blood coming out of her hand. I stood up and grabbed the box of tissues off her desk before taking a few out and pressing them in her palm.
"Grayson I'm fine." She said, replacing my hand with her own and standing up, walking out the door. I followed her back to the kitchen where she took the tissues off her cut and ran it under cold water. My mom, Cam, and Ethan all gave me looks and I shook my head at them.
"What happened?" Mom asked, walking over to Haley and grabbing a bandage out of the drawer.
"Tractors." Haley said turning off the water. "And motorcycles. Stupid motorcycles."
"Honey, you've already bleed through the bandage and it's only been there for thirty seconds. I think you're going to need stitches." My mom said, looking at Haley's hand.
"Great. Fantastic. Just what I need." She said, storming off into the other room.
"What.... just happened?" Cameron and Ethan asked at the same time.
"Her dad bought a midlife crisis motorcycle and he wrecked into a tractor. He needs a kidney and Caleb wants her to go back with him to get tested to see if she can be a direct donor." I explained, giving them the short story.
"So umm clearly three of us in the room are in no shape to a) drive or b) take care of a baby." Haley said walking back in with her shoes on and actual clothes rather than pajamas. "So Cam, can you drive me to the ER so that Lisa can stay here with Hayden? If, you don't mind." She asked looking between my sister and my mom.
"Of course." They both said. Haley tossed Cam her keys and they walked out of the house.
What an eventual day and it's not even 10am yet.
Hi guys. Bye guys (that's all I got)
But I had to set up the main 'conflict' of part three.
