It's been a week since "meeting" Mason's parents and since things with Mason are better than ever, she's continued planning her 20th anniversary ball of her reign as queen. She's had many meetings with people hoping to get their floral design, or cake, or any other thing at the party.
Usually those meetings would bore her to no end but luckily Mason as helped a lot with keeping her sane. She sat at her desk flipping through many designs of cakes trying to choose which one would best suit her ball.
She stopped when she heard a rustling around on the bed. She turned and smiled seeing Mason waking up from his afternoon nap. Mason stretched and let out a cute groan as he fully woke up. He smiled up at his queen and trotted over to her.
Victoria scooped up her pet and placed him in her lap which made Mason instinctively curl up and cuddle close to her. "Mason as you know my 20th anniversary ball is coming up and I want you to be prepared for a lot of people who will be coming to the palace" She said.
She already noticed Mason tense up a bit. Ever since the incident with the guard he's never really trusted anyone but her. "Like...who" He asked timidly.
"Don't worry Mason the only ones who are coming to stay in the palace are my siblings. I have 6 brothers and 4 sisters. One of my sisters even has a human pet" She said smiling.
Mason smiled a tiny bit feeling reassured. "Feel better" Victoria asked which Mason nodded. "Good" She said holding him close and petting him which Mason very much enjoyed.
--A WEEK LATER—
It was 2 days before the ball and her family was just beginning to show up at the palace. Victoria stood outside at the palace entrance waiting for her first younger brother to arrive.
Mason stood by her side still a bit nervous about meeting new people, but he knew if he was next to his queen everything will be ok.
The first to show up was her eldest brother Richard, who she appointed as the leader of the western territories in her kingdom. Richard smiled seeing his big sister again after many years.
"My queen Victoria it is an honor to meet once again" Richard said in a playful mocking tone. Victoria smiled "Knock it off Richard" She said with a laugh and hugged her brother. "A servant will show you up to your room" She said giving him one last hug as another car pulled up.
It was her younger sister Catherine who had her own human pet. She gets out holding a girl around Masons age. She sets her down and then hugs her sister.
"How are Victoria" She asks and looks down at Mason "Hello whats your name" She asked.
Mason instantly leaned closer against Victoria "This is Mason. I found him running through the halls with a stolen piece of bread 3 weeks ago and decided to make him my pet" She said smiling at Mason.
"Well he is precious. Mason meet my pet Emma" She said gesturing towards a very energetic girl smiling at Mason.
"Hi Mason, its great to meet you" She said quickly hugging him which caught Mason by surprise who flinched. "Um...Hello" He said as she let go of him. "A servant will show you to your room and Ill see you guys at dinner" Victoria said.
The rest of her siblings Gilead, William, Robert, George, Henry, Anne, Cecilia, and Eleanor arrived that afternoon.
Victoria went back to her bedroom once her siblings were settled to get ready for dinner with them. "You did a great job Mason. I'm proud of you" She said knowing her little pet is not a social type.
Mason smiled up at her and sat on the bed as she got ready. Once she was ready she pulled out an outfit from her closet "You'll be wearing this for the ball this weekend, but I just can't resist putting it on you for tonight's dinner" She said holding up a little tuxedo.
Victoria spent the next 15 minutes trying to get the very squirmy Mason into his adorable tuxedo. "Come on Mason stay still" She said trying to get his buttons buttoned. "No I don't like it" He said with a whining tone.
"Sweetie you look adorable though" She said while struggling to get the last button. Once she got it she backed up to get a better look "There see Mason look how cute you are" She said smiling at her little pet sitting there with a frown on his face.
"Lets get your collar back on" She had to take it off to get some of the higher buttons buttoned. "Alright let's go" She said picking up her grumpy pet and heading to her dinning room.
Her siblings all stood once she entered then sat down once she was seated. She was seated next to her sister Catherine and her pet Emma who was standing next to her owner.
"Oh, my goodness Victoria Mason looks so adorable tonight" She said cooing over his tux. Mason being the shy and bashful person he was blushed and turned against his queen to hide. "Oh stop Mason" Victoria said sighing but smiled at the compliment.
"Thank you, might I say Emma is quite adorable this evening" She said. Emma beamed at the compliment "Thank you your highness" She said.
When the food arrived, Victoria put Mason on the floor to stand next to her. Her grumpy pet didn't like this one bit and began to whine but was silenced by one quick glare from the queen. So, Mason just let out a quiet groan and slouched against her chair.
Emma moved to the other side so she can talk to her new friend Mason. "Hi Mason" She said waving cutely. "Um Hi" He said quickly looking at his queen to save him, but she was busy talking with her brother George.
"So how did you become a pet Mason? How is it living in the palace? Oh, what's the food like?" Emma rattled off a lot of questions with her smile not leaving her face.
"Um...My parents were mean to me, so I left and...Um I snuck into the palace to find food and um...she found me and....yeah" He said very shyly.
"Oh, that's horrible. My mother raised me alone and she got sick and was too poor to take care of me so she went to my owner and asked if she could take care of me" Emma said smiling up at Catherine.
"I didn't like it at first and missed my mommy, but I love living with her now and she treats me great" She said happily.
Victoria turned to Mason "Mason would you like some food" She asked. Mason silently thanked for her getting him out of the conversation. "Yes! Please" He said eagerly. It's not that he didn't like Emma it's just he's used to his quiet life with his queen and not all of a sudden all these people are here and it makes him nervous.
Victoria began to feed him and once he was done she wrapped her arm around him and pulled him closer so she can easily pet him while she talked to her siblings.
After dessert was served Mason gently tugged on Victoria dress. She turned to him "What is it Mason" She asked. "Um can I sit in your lap" He asked with a blush. Victoria nodded with a smile and he quickly snuggled up to her and was asleep in minutes.
---------------
Mason's father rummages through the fridge "Mildred we are running out of food...and money" He said and shut the fridge hard rattling the only thing in there which was a half empty bottle of beer.
"I know Gilbert we just have to find something to steal. If we still have Mason, we could have easily stolen from that fruit market" Mason's mother Mildred grumbled.
Gilbert looked up as the mail came through the slot in the door. "I know but that queen stole him from us" He said grabbing the mail and ruffling through it.
Gilbert's eyes widened "Mildred do you still have that debt to be paid by that palace guard" He asked.
Mildred nodded "Yeah, he keeps saying he has the money but can never come up with it"."Well I know how he can make up for his debts"He said holding up a flyer for the 20th anniversary ball.
