It was a dark, cold night; she was younger and running through a dense forest. She didn’t know why she was running, where to, or more importantly from whom. Lunar just knew she had to keep running, this would just repeat itself like it had so many times before, she would run, turn and fight, and be killed.

A growl ripped through the night air behind her and Lunar started running faster, the monster chasing her was gaining ground, she could run faster too if she would also unleash her inner beast. But the dream wouldn’t allow her to yet, it wouldn’t allow her to turn her head to see who was chasing her, and when it did the person, or humanoid creature would only be a dark outline with fangs and claws ready to tear her apart. Finally a clearing appeared from the dense forest and Lunar could let out her own animal. She whipped around to face her enemy and let out a snarl as her own features began to change, sharp fangs and claws grew, her senses became sharper, and soon she was a giant wolf letting out a howl of challenge.

Lunar tried once again to use telepathy to read her enemies mind but once again couldn’t, because, of course, her younger self couldn’t control that power very well. The figure chuckled deeply as if her bravery amused him, she whimpered despite knowing it was a dream and made sure her back was to a tree so they couldn’t attack her from behind. With a loud roar her chaser leapt forward and attacked, Lunar met them in mid air and tried to bite at their throat before getting thrown to the ground and pinned there by the heavier person’s weight.

“No one ever escapes me.” They growled in a voice that was distinctly male.

Lunar turned her head and bit into the guy’s wrist only to receive a blow to the head by the other. She yelped and wriggled to get free before claws were held down onto her throat choking her slowly, blood started to soak through her neck fur and black dots darted across her vision before the man spoke again.

            “Play times over Wolfe.”

They raised a clawed hand into the air before bringing it back down across her throat and severing the major arteries. The last thing Lunar remembered was the man’s black eyes sparkling with delight as she died.

Lunar jerked awake and looked around her room, it was dark but not in the same way her dream had been, a thin line of yellow light filtered in from the hallway outside and she sat up in relief. Looking at her bed she sighed, her pillow had been ripped apart along with most of her blanket and sheets, every time she had that dream this would happen… at least her boss didn’t care about how often he had to give her money to buy new ones. She got up and made her claws and fangs shrink back down to normal before looking at her clock and deciding she may as well get ready since it would be time to get up soon anyway. Lunar took a shower and put on a new outfit before looking at her golden wolf eyes in the mirror; the agents here knew about her mutation but she still felt better wearing sunglasses and avoiding their stares.

A knock came from the door and she answered it. “What do you want?”

“B-boss wants to see you.” An agent stuttered as he saw the glare she gave him.

“Tell him I’ll be right there.”

            “R-right.”

Lunar watched them walk off quickly down the hall to tell Stryker and laughed, she enjoyed how easily she could scare the humans here, and by the reactions of the other mutants working with her they enjoyed their power too. In fact the only human they couldn’t scare was Stryker himself but that was because they knew the consequences if you left him; besides it wouldn’t do any good if they couldn’t get their paycheck to survive.

Before going to meet with Stryker, Lunar went to the kitchen and put a breakfast sandwich in the microwave. Lady Deathstrike came in, light flashed off her adamantium nails and she turned to glare at Lunar.

“Didn’t you hear? Boss wants you.”

Lunar glared back as the animal within told her to attack. “I’m getting breakfast first, besides if it’s too important to wait he can find me himself.”

The microwave went off and she took out her sandwich, eating it on the way down to the meeting room. Stryker looked up when he saw her and grinned his usual cold smile.

“Time to go on your next mission.” He ordered and handed her a vial filled with a clear liquid. “You know what to do.”
