Lunar ran along the hallways as blood continued to run down her fur, leaving a trail on the cement floor, she could hear Cyclops quickly following with Jean supported on one side. She felt pain flash through her head and at first thought it was just her but as she howled in agony on the ground she could see the other two in the same predicament. She didn’t know how long they were like that, all Lunar could tell was that it felt as if someone were trying to rip apart her mind, when it finally did stop she stayed on the ground half expecting another attack.
“Lunar come on we have to go.” Cyclops said as he stood up and helped Jean walk over to where Lunar was lying in a puddle of her own blood. “Lunar…?”
She felt him shake her gently, avoiding the deeper wounds, and looked up at them before shoving herself to her feet. “I’m… fine.”
“Are you sure? If you want to rest here we can continue and come back to get you.”
“No, I can… keep walking.” Lunar could tell both of them doubted it and were looking at her blood soaked fur but continued forcing herself to walk as if she were fine.
Footsteps ran down from a smaller corridor and Lunar growled and got ready to attack but Jean used her powers to stop her from moving. “Don’t it’s our friends.”
“Jean, Scott.” A lady with white hair exclaimed as she led a group of other, including the kids Stryker had capture, towards them.
“Storm.” Cyclops greeted before turning to a blue mutant. “Who’s this?”
“I could ask the same.” Storm replied looking down at Lunar.
“I am Kurt Wagner, from the-” He was cut off as Storm held a hand up.
“We don’t have time.”
“Follow me, I know the quickest way.” Lunar ordered them.
They got to the makeshift Cerebro to find all the guards that had been guarding it dead, though the door was still closed. Storm looked at the door’s lock and paced around before turning towards Kurt. “I need you to teleport me inside.”
“I can’t I must see where I am going otherwise I could end up in a wall.” Kurt replied hopelessly.
Lunar growled at him from where she’d collapsed on the ground. “Your Professor is in there with Stryker’s son Jason. Now if you want to save him and get out of here before this places collapses on top of us I would risk it!”
“I-I will try.” Kurt grabbed Storm by the shoulders and Lunar watched as they teleported.
“Where’s Logan?” Jean asked as she looked around at the people in the group.
“I don’t know…” Cyclops replied. “He’ll find us though.”
“I’ll go look for him…” Lunar suggested as she got up on shaky paws. “Then we can get out faster.”
“No, what if you’re attack? Or collapse somewhere we can’t find you?” Cyclops argued. “Logan doesn’t know you’re helping us, he’ll kill you on sight.”
“Then Summers, I deserve it for what I have done…” Lunar left before he could say anything else and began trying to track down Wolverine.
Soldiers ran passed her without even glancing in her direction and Lunar heard the dam’s structure let out another groan of protest as more pressure was put on the foundation. Finally she caught Stryker’s scent along with Logan’s and quickened her pace as much as she could until she found Logan coming back her way. When he saw her Lunar noticed his claws slide out and she backed away slightly as he got close enough to see blood covering his shirt, thoughts about what he might’ve done to Stryker flashed through her mind but she ignored them, she wasn’t loyal to him anymore it shouldn’t matter.
“I already killed your little friend. You want to be next Wolfie?” Wolverine growled.
“I’ve come to take you to the others…” Lunar continued to back away to stay out of his claw’s range. “Hurry… there isn’t much time. Once they get Xavier we have to get out.”
“Why should I believe you?”
“You have no reason to… but just know Jean wants to know you’re safe.”
Lunar saw an emotion flash across his features before his claws slid back into his skin. “Then by all means lets go.”
A loud crashing sound followed his words followed by the sound of rushing water and he started running in the direction Lunar had come from. “Hurry!”
Lunar whimpered as she coughed up blood to stop herself from choking on it and followed after him as best as she could with the darkness that seemed to be pressing down on her, trying to lull her into its embrace. She shook herself though it didn’t help much as tiredness continued to slow her down, soon Logan was out of sight and she was barely even walking, she couldn’t even stop swaying on her paws. Shouting brought her back out of her half conscious thoughts and she looked up to see Logan bringing the others back towards her.
“Why are we going out this way? The main exit was closer.”
“It’s flooded, and this place will be soon too.” Storm replied as she carried one of the smaller kids.
Lunar looked back the way they’d came and heard the roar of gallons upon gallons of water surging towards them quickly. She scrambled to her feet and shoved some of the slower kids with her head to get them to move faster before pausing to look for any stragglers that she could’ve missed, seeing none she turned and reached the corner where the others had disappeared around moments before. The dam shuddered as more water entered it and Lunar slid on the cement as she tried to dodge around parts of the falling ceiling. By now she knew the others would be out and she tried to get back up and follow them but saw the exit had been blocked.
“Scott… Storm?” Lunar put as much power into her thought as possible as she collapsed back onto the cement. “Help… I’m trapped…”
She didn’t know if anyone had even heard her but she did notice water beginning to fill up the space she was in, parts of the collapsed ceiling was keeping it from coming in all at once but the water was rising rapidly and Lunar realized she wouldn’t be able to swim above it for long in her condition. Lunar tried not to pay attention as the freezing cold water began to cover her legs and back and tried to concentrate on keeping her head above the water, soon though it didn’t matter and she held her breath as the water finally went over her head. She swore she heard someone calling her name but let herself relax as the darkness fell upon her to block out the burning in her lungs and the rest of the world around her.
