The SPLIT-LEVEL Of CHRISTIANITY

A scriptural verse on the Bible says: ‘This people honors me with their lips but their hearts are far from me’. It’s an ironic and somewhat frightening fact that we praise His holy name-say all the right prayers, fasted regularly and talk a lot about God but none of it totally touched our hearts. This is what we call “Split-level Christianity”.

The reality that some people seem to embrace His Words, but do not seem to embrace God is quite disappointing. When you look at the altar and pause for a prayer, do you think these things draws you closer to the real sacramental life of the church? Or have they just become your religious habits?

Split-level Christianity dishonors God in his name. You may be able to let the Bible speak ,but you, yourself is utterly innocent on expressing and nurturing your devotion. What then  shall we say in response to God’s word, “Whatever does not proceed from faith is sin” (Romans 14:23)? It is folly and useless to talk about him without sincerely trusting and living the way he wanted us to live.

It is not how you speak good things, but rather how you do good things. And this would keep us away from being a ‘split-level believers’, so that we will never hear him say of us: ‘Their hearts are far from me’.
