Author's Note: Hello lovelies, thank you so much for getting this story to 25 reads, I appreciate it more than you know! I'd like to start off by saying that this chapter does take place in the aftermath of season 5, episode 1 (Nameless, Faceless) of Criminal Minds. I am very much aware that Reid did not go to George Washington University Hospital (an actual hospital in D.C. near where I live) in this episode. Though for the purposes of my story he does. If it bothers you that much, I'm sorry. But hopefully you enjoy this chapter and give it the same amount of love, if not more!!

xoxo

Present Day

Estrella's POV:

BZZZ. BZZZ. BZZ.

The vibrations of Estrella's Blackberry phone under her pillow shook her awake from her dream. She let out a displeased groan as she checked the number appearing on her screen. It was her fellow coworker, Doctor Ethan Ambrose. She was not supposed to have a shift today. She turned to face her clock on the night stand next to her bed. It was 4am, so she knew something had to be wrong if he was calling her on her day off and at this untimely hour.

"Hello Ethan," she answered, her voice cracking slightly.

"We need you to come in tonight to help with rounds," He said.

"First of all, it's not night time, it's fucking 4am in the morning. Second, I thought Doctor Barton was scheduled to do rounds after his surgeries tonight?" She asked, wiping the sleepiness from her eyes.

"Estrella, this place is a fuckin' freak show, staff is on overload. We need all hands on deck immediately."

"On my way."

And with that she hung up the phone and hastily ran towards her dresser. She opened a drawer and pulled a pair of her light blue scrubs. Mumbling under her breath she hastily searched the top of her dresser for a hair tie and her car keys. Grabbing the two items, she threw on a pair of her sketchers, and headed towards the door.

As she locked up her little townhouse and hopped into her black Toyota Prius. As she drove along the streets of Washington, D.C., her mind couldn't help but drift occasionally to her dream. She'd had a reoccurring dream for the last week now. Memories of her once very close friend, Spencer Reid. They had been friends as children, and throughout college. Though, it wasn't long before phone calls and letters came less and less frequently from her dear friend. Then suddenly not at all. She understood that somehow life must have gotten in the way. At the time it had hurt her quite a bit. She had learned to depend on him for her happiness and support. The pair could relate to each other in a way that others could never have imagined. Estrella reveled in every intricate part of Spencer's unique mind, and loved him for it. He could ramble on from one subject to the next, and somehow make it all piece back together in one crazy, beautiful mess. He some how made subjects that would bore most people to death, interesting and fun for her. It could have been her natural love of learning that kept her intrigued, but it was more than likely her unconditional enchantment for her best friend's never ending intellect. Although they were no longer close, Estrella couldn't help but wonder what Spencer was doing with that wonderful brain of his. Though with all the uncertainty about what her once friend was doing, there was one thing she was sure about, he had forgotten about her.

As soon as Estrella was parked, she walked her way into George Washington University Hospital. The place was a mess. The Emergency Room was obviously over run. The waiting room chairs were fully packed, and those who were able to stand were lined up against the wall. She let out an exhausted sigh. She hadn't even begun work, and yet she knew it was going to be a horridly long day for her. It wasn't long though before she made eye contact with her coworker Ethan. She walked up to him slowly, dreading the day before her.
