I'm sorry guys

Peter couldn't describe what he felt when he heard his fathers heartbeat slowly stop. It broke him. He felt like he was beyond repair. He just lost his dad.

Peter had lost the person who was always there for him. The person who saved him as a child. The person who helped  him  to be the best version of himself. The person that took him in when Aunt May passed away. The person who gave him a brother. The person who gave him a family again. The person who gave hm hope that things would get better countless times. His hero. His dad.

And he was gone.

That hurt more than anything Peter could imagine.

He collapsed to the floor when Tony's heart finally stopped, not able to stand up anymore, the weight he was carrying was just too heavy.

He had never had to carry the weight on his own. When his parents died, he didn't understand, so it was smaller. Ben and May carried it with him. Then Ben went too, so he and May carried it on their own. But May left too, and for a few moments, he was being pushed down by the weight, but then Tony came, and he helped him carry it. But now? Tony was gone.

When they got to the cabin, Peter didn't even give his new home a second glance, not even going inside. He just sat by the lake. Everything just seemed to fade. And even after a few hours, he was still there, nobody able to get him to move. Nobody to help him carry the weight. It was dark now.

Everyone had tried getting Peter to move, but nobody could. Then Peter heard footsteps, they were fast, like someone was running.
"Pete..." they sounded so defeated. Instantly, Peter recognised the voice. That was Harley. That was his brother. His twin. Except he wasn't. He was older than Peter now. He had lived his life without him. He was able to move on.

And as much as Peter wanted to, he couldn't move or speak.
Harley sat beside him slowly. Harley was shaking too. He has been crying.
"Hey..." Harley said, Peter didn't respond. He sighed. "Mum's worried about you. So am I. We all are."
Peter wanted to cry, but he had no tears left in him.
"Peter, please..." Harley continued, sounding more desperate than Peter had ever heard him. He sounded so broken, and Harley didn't break easily, or he just didn't show it. Sometimes it was hard to tell. And just then, Peter started crying again, actual tears, falling thick and fast.

Harley bit his lip, but it wasn't enough to stop the sobs he had held in since he found out what happened to his dad. And they sat there, both sobbing. Eventually ending up hugging, gripping onto eachother like lifelines. Soaking one another in tears.

"I-I'm so s-sorry H-Harley I- I should've- I could've done s-something..."
"N-no you did everything y-you could... h-he's proud o-of you, I k-know it...."
Peter nodded into his brothers shoulder, his brother who was now older than him. And hey sat there, slowly calming down, reassuring eachother that they would both be okay.

And soon the two were inside. Both had gotten changed into their pjs, and were sat in Harley's room. They had talked for a while, but at the moment they were in a comfortable silence, and then someone entered the room.
"Hey Mor," Harley said, "Shouldn't you be asleep?"
The girl shook her head, "I'm allowed to stay up."
Harley moved up on he bed to give Morgan some room. Peter looked at him, silently asking him if this was their sister. He nodded.

"Are you Peter...?" Morgan asked.
Peter nodded.
"Daddy talks about you a lot."
A single tear rolled down Peter's cheek.
"He said you're a hero, but you got hurt. He said that I could meet you one day, and that you are my other brother. He said that he would get you back, and he made me promise to take care of you if he couldn't. He wanted me to give you a hug." When Morgan finished, she wrapped her arms around him, and he returned the gesture, holding back the sobs. Harley joined the hug. Soon, Pepper came into the room, joining her children.

'Everybody wants a happy ending, right? But it doesn't always roll that way.'

The family were playing the message Tony had recorded for them before he time traveled.

'Maybe this time. I'm hoping if you play this back, it's in celebration.'

Peter blinked back tears, with Morgan clinging to him as though she had known him her whole life. and Harley and Pepper sat either side of him.

'I hope families were reunited, I hope we get it back and something like a normal version of the planet has been restored, if there ever was such a thing. God, what a world. Universe now.'

The Starks were glad to have Peter back in their lives after five years, but it was going to be hard without Tony there. And for Peter? It felt like his world had been turned upside down, everything was different, and soon he would have to go back to school, and he would only recognise half of everyone there. Luckily Ned would still be in school, but Harley wasn't, and neither was MJ.

'If you told me ten years ago that we weren't alone, let alone you know, to this extent... I mean, I wouldn't have been surprised. But come on, you know. That epic forces of darkness and light have come into play. And for better or worse, that's the reality Morgan's going to grow up in.'

The remainder of the Stark family all had one thing in common, they were gonna be there for eachother. Especially Morgan. They never thought anything was crazy anymore. They had seen it all. And for Morgan, that was normal. Crazy things still happened, but for Morgan it was all just a part of life, and maybe she was right. Maybe now, that was normal. Maybe people just had to accept it.

'So I found a private area to record a little greeting in case of an untimely death on my part. Not that any death is ever timely.'

It didn't take Peter long to find the framed photo of him and his dad. According to Harley, one look at that was all it took to convince Tony to try out the time travel thing. He put into his new bedroom, which was slowly looking more and more like a Peter Stark kind of room. He had a bunch of books, Lego sets him and Ned had done, the spider suit,   nerd posters, a bunch of photos and a lot of Tony's old things which had been shared equally between the three, and on his bedside table was EDITH. However Peter was planning to give those glasses to Harley.

'That time travel thing that we're going to pull off tomorrow... it's got me scratching my head about the survivability of all this. But then again that's the hero gig.'

Of course Peter was so grateful to be back, but sometimes he felt like he didn't deserve it. Two people died. Thor did it even though he got nothing out of it, his family was gone for good. People gave up so much, and Peter wasn't sure if he could forgive himself for taking those things from them, he blamed himself. And he knew it wasn't just for him, other people came back too, but it didn't ease the guilt.

'Part of the journey is the end. What am I tripping for? Everything is going to work out the way it's supposed to. I love you 3000.'

"Love you 3000..." Morgan said.

Peter visited his dad's grave once a week, making sure to fill him in on everything he had done. He told him every little thing he did on patrol, all the things he did with Morgan and Harley and updated him on how school was going. And before le left he would always whisper the same sentence.

"I Larb you 3000 dad...."
