You had known the Gellers for quite some time now. You had met Monica, and her friend Rachel, in high school and immediately became very close friends. When you were younger, like Monica, you were on the chubbier side but not quite as bad, that might have been the reason you both had bonded so easily. You also had a thing for her older brother which she'd tease you about, but you always thought there was no way he'd go for you.
Before you knew it, you were both about to part ways. Packing up your stuff and moving on out to college was difficult, you had to leave everyone you loved behind and start life somewhere weird and strange. You had decided to go to a college in California to study performing arts, you enjoyed both acting and singing and couldn't chose between the two, so you settled on a more intense course then involved them both. You had put all your stuff in your car and had already said goodbye to your family, and headed to the Gellers' house to say one last goodbye to Monica and her parents, maybe even her cute brother would be there.
The difference between when you first met Monica and now, is that Monica had shredded all her weight and now was really beautiful, well you always thought she was beautiful because size doesn't matter, but to say that to someone and to believe it yourself is a whole other story. You hadn't really lost any weight, you still stayed the same. This made you more nervous about going to college because all your insecurities and doubts were swooshing around your head. "Y/n- snap out of it- you're going to be fine!" Monica said brightly, holding your shoulders to try catch your attention. You half smiled, "easy for you to say, you don't look like me," you huffed, arranging the boxes in the boot of your car so they were safer for when you hit the road. Monica rolled her eyes, swatting your hands away before taking control of organising your boot "I managed to get it off, you will too if you put your mind to it, plus, either way you're still beautiful." She smiled up at you before groaning. "Why wouldn't you allow me to pack your stuff, I could have organised it a lot better then you have!" You just chuckled and rolled your eyes looking round, spotting Ross and his father in the garage talking. You pried your eyes away before you were caught staring, but little too late as you found Monica smirking at you knowingly. "You ever gonna get over that crush? He's not even good looking, cmon y/n!" Monica rolled her eyes in disgust. "Yeah well, I'm not exactly a model either.." you sighed, truly meaning it as a joke, but it hit a little harder. "He'd never be seen dead with me, I'm just his little sisters fat friend." She sighed. Monica looked at her sympathetically, "y/n, he'd be lucky to have you, and if he ever rejected you because of what you looked like- then screw him! He didn't deserve you in the first place...," there was a small pause of silence. "Hey cmon, it's our last day together for god knows how long, don't let this bum you out- plus my brother really likes you, you've been a great friend to me and he knows that." She comforted, rubbing your arm. You smiled half heartedly.
You then turned to her and you both hugged tightly. You pulled away smiling and then noticed the gleam in Monica's eyes, your face faltered and eyed her up suspiciously before you clocked on, "you want to get your label maker at my boxes don't you." Monica threw her hands together, "please please please, you've got 15 minutes before you leave I have just enough time to make simple labels and organise them!" She pleaded. You rolled your eyes, "fineee, want me to go get it while you prepare the boxes?" You questioned, knowing her technique of work by now. She nodded brightly, "just ask Ross for it, it's in the garage on a shelf somewhere, he should know where it is." She said quickly before turning her back on you, and started planning how she was going to organise your stuff.
You inhaled a quick breath, preparing yourself to talk to Ross as you walked over to the garage. You stopped right outside, although you were out of site, you could still hear what Ross and his dad were talking about. Your smile fell as soon as you heard it.
"This is a big step for her, I'm glad she's off chasing her dreams and going to college, she's a sweet girl," Jack, Ross and Monica's father, said softly, playing with the car that was in the garage. "Yeah she's nice..," Ross mumbled, not really paying attention or really caring about the situation at hand. "I know you're dating that Carol, but y/n- she's different. She has spirit. You could use someone like that, plus she's pretty." Jack nodded towards Ross who looked up at his father shocked. "Dad, Carol is great! I know you and mom have a weird feeling about her but she's amazing! I love her. And as for y/n, don't you think she's a little young? I mean, the age doesn't matter I guess but the maturity. She seems a little immature and- sorta ditzy to date someone like me, I'm training to become a palaeontologist! I mean at least with Carol I can actually have an intellectual conversation with her without having to- to- explain everything and dumb things down." Ross ranted, "plus anyways, she'd be prettier if she wasn't so big, I mean Monica was able to lose it all, why couldn't she?" He rolled his eyes. Jack shook his head, looking up at Ross. "You know son, I don't think you give y/n enough credit, she seems very smart! As for her size, she'll grow out of it, our little Harmonica did, it's just a little puppy fat that's all. All I'm saying son is that she'd be the type of girl you'd spend the rest of your life with- she just has that energy about her. Anyways, enough of that- pass me that wrench.." Jack said, pointing over to it.
You stood gobsmacked, heartbroken by what you had just heard. You felt upset, as if you were about to burst into tears, but also angry. Ross is such a small minded idiot! You pulled yourself together and put on a straight face, you still had to get Monica's label maker. You turned the corner, putting on the fakest smile you could muster, and walked into the garage. "Hey Mr Geller! Loving the car!" You said cheerfully, sending a small thumbs up to the man who smiled back at you. You turned to Ross, smile dropping anger visible in your eyes. "Monica wants her labelling machine. She said you'd know where it is." He nodded and shot you a small smile, "yeah sure, here you go," he reached up and grabbed it and handed it down to you. You snatched it from his hands, not even giving him a second glance and began to walk off. "Goodbye Mr. Geller! I hope to see you soon," you said sweetly, giving him a small hug. "Bye Ross." You said a little harshly before walking over to your car where Monica and now her mother were standing.
After Monica finished labelling, and you both had packed it back up properly you gave a quick hug to Mrs Geller before turning to Monica who was tearing up already. You frowned, starting to get a little teary yourself before she threw herself at you for a hug. You both said your goodbyes and you got in your car and drove off.
