I stood in my huge room standing at the large full length mirror that was place on my wall near the wardrobe, I sighed. I'd been taught that all of the god's and goddesses children should be kept in luxury and that is what we got apparently. I am Alexis Delos of Artemis the Goddess...I thought but smirked every time I thought of it, I'd known of my true heritage since I can remember, I knew I wasn't normal, I was stronger, weirder and had a different perception to everyone else, never mind the fact I used to love animals way more than anyone else and decided to take up archery lessons when I was six. Yeah so much for the norm. Oh yes, then there's Aphrodite Rhodes, she was named after her mother because Aphrodite is just something to be proud of.

I picked up my school bag and zipped up my leather jacket, at last it was winter my favourite season. I slid into Aphrodite's silver convertible - for once the top was on and the heating too - she smiled at me and I returned it, my hair was in the usual braid I preferred it in and hers cascaded down in a straight silk down her back. Both our hair was about the same length except mine couldn't be controlled unless tied back and hers was perfect. Aphrodite was the daughter of Aphrodite (obviously) and Poseidon, from the scrolls she had Aphrodite's perfect golden hair and Poseidon's eyes of the ocean.

We zoomed down the roads toward the school I sat comfortably though because I knew we were both immortal and nothing could happen. "So what's this about Orion?"  Aphrodite said, I shrugged. "All I know me and him just can't be friends and it doesn't go further than that, you know the rules we have it's all very mixed up and secretive." Aphrodite nodded in agreement as she parked in the school lot. It had seemed that somewhere upon the magic that nearly every demi-god of the same age had been drawn together because not only I and Aphrodite and Orion were stuck together but our entire friendship group was nearly full demi-god apart from Matthew. Aphrodite's ex, Percy or his full name Perseus, son of Zeus. Damien full name Deimos, son of Ares. Some of us had to change our names so people wouldn't suspect something.

As we sat under my favourite tree that had a picnic bench that fit 10 on where we all hung round.  Me and Aphrodite sat, waiting for the rest of our group to sit with us before the first morning bell. Octavius came bounding in, his curly ginger hair was short but had a fringe falling over his eyes that were a ice blue. Octavius was Apollo and Calliope's son. He had a knack for acting and music; clearly he'd bore his father’s gifts. He was close friends with Percy, Orion and Damien. They had already headed off to the cafeteria where breakfast was served and it was warmer.

I listened to Aphrodite explain what had had happened when she was with Percy and some other people apart of our group. To me it sounded like her and Percy had spent the entire night flirting but there was no point in saying anything, she denied such things and declared her and Percy would never be together again. She professed that me and Orion would fight against all the odds of the rules and end up in a starcrossed love. I shook my head at such things, he never looked at me twice and even though we could be civilised to each other and he made me feel nauseous and excited deep in the pit of my stomach there was a fire of hatred that I couldn't quite explain what it was, it changed as well to lust for him but I shook it off and turned back to Aphrodite who was floundering about how me and Orion were 'perfect'.

In my favourite lesson, history we were ironically being taught about the ancient Greeks and Romans. It was the only lesson which I sat next to Aphrodite, however she didn't share my curiosity of history and didn't quite understand it's importance. When Mr Row let us discuss Aphrodite tried to send us in a discussion of Orion but I changed it, I explained her plans. "I'm going to run away during Halloween, to find out more about this curse." I whispered to her, she didn't seem shocked, her mother was the goddess of love and beauty but her daughter had a streak of mischievous that not even Hades could match. Aphrodite just smiled at me and twirled her hair, a seat down from her sat, Hermes' son, Tyler, golden blonde hair and blue eyes. From the scrolls I read about his father, he looked exactly like his description and Tyler was very athletic. He obviously listened in, the demi god super hearing helping him. I sighed and scowled at him.
