A/N: Let me know what you guys think of it! I've never done this kind of work before! May Shadow hide you!

I knew those two were Thieves when they rode their horses into our stables. The way they held themselves, and how they dressed gave it all away.

"Vipir, I'm headed inside, pay the woman some coin will you?" The white-haired Nord said before she jumped off her horse.

"Wait for me, Vex." The man whined as he demounted his own horse. He sighed before sending a grin my direction. "Pay her no mind, Sweet bird."

"My name isn't bird." I smiled a bit. "My name is Cirillas."

"Well, Cirillas, you're quite the beautiful little elf."

She scrunched her nose but couldn't contain her smile as she rolled her eyes. "Well aren't you the Nordic Charmer."

He let out a hearty laugh before pulling out a large sack of septims. "Here, I think this should compensate you, Sweet Bird. If the guards ask you where we went, say we went to the mountains."

My mouth gaped at the large sack he placed in my thin little arms, ignoring the nickname he was so insistent on. "Y-you're paying me a lot of gold, sir."

"Pocket change in my line of work." He winked at me. "I'm sure you'll put it to good use." He said before following his companion into the city. I stared at the sack as hope swelled into my chest. I quickly tacked the horses to the gate and fed them their grain. Then, Ishe took the coin inside to where my sick father lay.

"Father, father look! We can take you to Whiterun now! You're going to be healed!"

"Cirillas...it is too late for me..." He said sorrowfully, laying almost motionless on his bed.

"Father...no it isn't, t-the journey is only a day on horseback, we will make it!" I kneeled at his bedside. "Father, please..."

"Bury me beneath the pine tree, little one. So I may join our ancestors." He held my hand. "Can you do that for me?"

I swallowed hard. "Y-yes father...I understand."

I cried for a while as my father closed his eyes for the last time. But I wiped my eyes. Skyrim was a cold and cruel place, and I had to be strong to survive it. I grabbed a shovel and started digging beneath the giant pine that sat on the side of the road. My neighbors, The Cruel-Seas, saw my struggle to break the cold ground. Being farmers, they helped soften the land and dig it deep enough where the wolves wouldn't get to the body. The husband, Torsten, carried father's frail and limp body out to the grave and gently lowered him inside. I took a deep breath and conjured the flames spell for the ceremonial burning. Then, I cast it reluctantly on my father's body, and the smoke quickly pillowed out of the hole in the ground. "Endorien ShadowOak... may your spirit escape your body and join our ancestors in the forests of Valenwood...our home so very far away. You will be missed as Stablemaster, as a friend, and as a father." I closed my eyes to keep myself from crying. Torsten put a hand on her shoulder.

"Your father was a great Elf, I'll make sure his name is never forgotten, Cirillas." He promised.
"Thank you, Torsten...that means a great deal to me."

"I'll take care of the stables...why don't you move to a warmer area of Skyrim? Like Solitude or Riverwood? There's plenty of work in Riften as well."

"I'll think about it." I gave him a tight smile. When the burning had finished, they filled the hole and Placed her father's Hunting Bow as a grave marker.

In the middle of the night is when the Nord woman, Vex came back for her horse. I quickly untied it and took it to her.

"Vipir shouldn't be far behind-" She started before they spotted the nordic man running for his life in the direction of riften. "That idiot. Hey, why don't you take his horse and follow me? Might want to hurry, the guards are slow but they are coming fast."

I quickly grabbed a few of my belongings and every septim I owned before I loaded it up before climbing on. "Lead the way.

Vex set off at a gallop and I followed close behind, taking the fastest route to Riften, but not once did we see Vipir. Maybe he got caught. We arrived at Riften in just a few short hours and left our horses yet again at the stables.

"Follow me." Vex led me inside and into the warmth of the Bee n Barb Inn and Tavern. She put ten septims on the counter. "Get this girl a room. She's freezing."

"Sure thing." The argonian woman replied and slipped the coin into her apron. "This way." She led me up to a quaint little room. "Feel free to stay as long as you like."

"Thank you," I said with a grateful look on my face. I was simply exhausted. She left the room and I slipped off my apron and day dress, as well as my boots and gloves, and set they gently inside the chest provided for me to use. Then I drifted to sleep with the thought of the fast running Nord from earlier.

The next day, I went out into the market place and searched around for anyplace I could work. Most of the stall owners chased me off, but Bori, a fisherman, offered me work at the hatchery. It paid decently enough, and he let me sleep there, as I would've rathered that than the bunkhouse, from what I've been hearing. In only a week, I've managed decent enough wages to purchase myself a bow and materials for arrows to hunt down the wolves in the area that are scaring the livestock. The Jarl allowed me to build a small wood cabin just outside of Town, which the blacksmith and my coworkers at the hatchery helped me make. It was big enough for me to have a bed, a cooking area, a bookshelf, and a table to eat at. They also surprised me with a miniature dock and small boat to get to work easier in. I couldn't have asked for a better town to live in. Sure it was stinky, but everyone was willing to help each other, most of the time.
"Nice little home you've made." I spun around to the familiar voice in my home. It was him, the Thief from the stables.

"I locked the door."

"Then you need a better lock, lovely bird." He chuckled, tucking his lockpicks away. I folded my arms.

"Why didn't you just knock?"

"That's a boring way to ask you out, isn't it?"

"Ask me-" My tan cheeks went red. "How do you know I'm not spoken for?"

"I don't see a ring on your finger." He advanced towards her with this grin of arrogance on his bearded face. Her lips parted when she realized, he had backed her up against the back wall of her home. He leaned into her ear. "And if you were taken, I would've known already, Cirillas." He chuckled softly. The way he said my name with such playfulness made my heart skip a few beats.

"And just how do you intend on proving that you are worthy of my companionship?"

"A feisty bird, eh?" He chuckled and retracted his head from my ear to look me in the eyes. His eyes were a soft, chestnut brown, with a firey accent to them that brought them to life. "Well then, if you'd allow me to, I'd like to treat you to dinner."

"You cook?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Aye." He grinned even more. "I can make the heartiest meal you'll ever taste."

"Fine. If you can make me the best meal I've ever eaten I'll give you a chance at my hand." I smiled as his eyes lit up. "I'll be back from work at dusk." I gave him a little peck on the cheek and hurried out of my house and into my boat. This was going to be an interesting evening.
