Jealous

It was the start of a bright new day for our shy bookworm, she did her new morning routine and left for school feeling nice and refreshed.

The day had gone by quietly again for her, she was starting to believe those bullies had finally given up on making her life miserable. She waited patiently for the bell to ring announcing it was time for lunch. She wasn't particularly hungry but she had been thinking she could go and eat with her pink tsundere friend again, she felt brave enough for some reason to take the initiative once again.

The bell finally rang and Yuri headed to her friends classroom as fast as she could without going as far as running there. As she was finally reaching her destination she slowed the pace and looked through the window to see if her friend was still there, hopefully she was, she thought, she had come as fast as possible after all, if she wasn't well, she had expected that too and could just go eat by herself as usual, no problem really for her. However when Yuri's eyes finally met the sight she was looking for, it was something she was not prepared for at all. Natsuki was at her usual seat, she was not eating yet, she was however talking to someone. A boy. The guy wasn't exactly good looking, he looked a little bit messy, long hair in a short ponytail and a light mustache, he wore his uniforms blazer open and a school cap. Despite not being exactly attractive, Natsuki was talking to him happily and both of them were laughing.

Yuri's mind probably made him look way better than he actually looked because of this and she could feel her blood boiling and at the same time the familiar bitter feeling she had felt most of her life of being left out. "I'm so stupid. It's all my fault for getting all excited again, I mean of course boys would be talking to her, she's so pretty after a- now's not the time for that! But it's true nonetheless, I don't even know why I'm surprised. Just because you're a damn social outcast doesn't mean she is too. She's just kind enough to feel pity for you and talk to you sometimes. She's a normal person unlike you... Agh! Why am I even upset now?! ... that fucking idiot is stealing my Nat-, Agh no! She's not yours you weirdo! You're even lucky she is your friend... Why am I even here anyway, I'll go away and eat alone as usual, like the freak I am, it was dumb of me to come in the first place. The girl with the long purple hair face darkened as she started to turn around and left, small tears also starting to form underneath her purple eyes.

Natsuki was talking about the anime of the current season she was watching with the boy sitting in front of her, however when she looked at the door for some reason, she was able to notice from the corner of her eye a familiar tall figure walking away from there, she wouldn't have seen her if she had looked a second later probably but she realized fast enough the situation.
"Hey Gen, I gotta go now, I almost forgot I had to go eat with a friend, so bye", she said as she stood up and waved at the boy making her way out of the classroom. "Haha, your new girlfriend right? Good luck there fella!", he said with a smug grin on his face. "SHUT UP! I'll kick your balls later!", the pink haired girl said embarrassed, face getting red as she walked out of the room.

Natsuki ran after her friend who was almost out of sight and luckily caught up to her gasping for breath. "Yuri! Wait up dammit!", the shorter girl said as she barely tugged her friends blazer trying to get her to stop which seemed to work as the taller one stopped avoiding facing her friend. "What?", Yuri said coldly. "Woah there, did I get the wrong person? I was expecting to hear one of your famous apologies", the girl with the pink hair said playfully trying to break the tension she could feel coming from her friend. However this didn't seem to work as the shy one still refused to face her and was not saying a word. "Yuri, are you okay? Did something happen? Yuri, talk to me! Yu-", Natsuki cut herself off abruptly as she walked around her friend to face her herself and saw tears coming down her face which the taller one was trying to hide behind her long hair. The pink girl grabbed her friends wrist and drag her along the hallways until they finally got to the same spot the had eaten the previous day. Natsuki made Yuri sit down as she sat next to her with concern on her face. "Yuri, please talk to me, what happened? Did someone do anything to you? Were those 4 jerks again?", the shorter one said worried. Yuri calmed herself down a little wiping her tears off her face, "N-No, it is no-nothing really, do not w-worry", she said still unable to look her friend in the eye. "Don't tell me not to worry when I found you walking and crying near my classroom, just tell me what's wrong", she said unconsciously putting her hand on top of Yuris, who blushed immediately at the contact. "I-I was just... I-It is my mind, I-I wanted to e-eat with you today t-too and then I-I thought maybe y-you wanted to be with your f-friends and that I w-was being a nuisance and-", the shy bookworm stopped abruptly when she felt a pair of thin and small arms wrapping around her as that always welcomed warmth on her chest started to return, cheeks red as the sky during the sunset. "You dummy! You ARE my friend!", the shorter girl said as she gently tightened the embrace. "I-I mean your o-other friends, you p-probably have many o-other friends be-better than me and-", Yuri stopped as she felt the shorter girls arms tightening even more around her. "Shut up! You're not a nuisance and I like having you around! So quit thinking for me!", Natsuki said as she slowly pulled away from the hug with her face hot as the burning sun of the Sahara. "Besides I-I was waiting for you to go eat too... Not that I was gonna wait for you forever though!!", she said returning to her usual tsundere self as she crossed her arms and looked away. Yuri giggled softly and in a surprisingly bold move she hugged her petite friend again and smiled happily almost like nothing happened. Natsuki's face went even hotter that not even Hades himself could handle it, "O-Okay enough of that you giant dummy! I'm hungry here and we have just a few minutes left to eat!", the feisty one said as Yuri let go of the hug still smiling, "I am sorry". "That's the Yuri we all know and love", Natsuki said joking as she flashed her canines at her friend, still blushing lightly.

"So, what offering did you bring to the master of cupcakes today?" Natsuki said eagerly. Yuri then realized she didn't bring lunch to the pink one today as she thought she would bring her own today and immediately replied nervously, "I-I am sorry, I-I did not bring y-you anything today, I-I thought you would b-bring your own l-lunch and I did n-not want to make you e-eat what I would make and ma-make you waste your food". Natsuki's face clearly showed disappointment as she replied, "Well umm yeah I kinda forgot to bring lunch, so well, just eat yourself, I'll still keep you company". Yuri's heart tightened inside her chest at the look in the pink haired girls face and quickly replied, "W-We can share mine if y-you want... I-I do not eat that much re-really...". Natsuki looked surprised but immediately changed her expression to guilt as she replied, "Yuri, no. You don't have too, I can eat something la-", the pink girl was cut off when a small fish roll was shoved into her mouth as her cheeks turned bright red and her eyes met her taller friend staring at her with blush on her cheeks which made her heart beat faster. She however did not protest and simply chewed the food enjoying the flavour. Yuri then continued to feed her rice and the other portions of her lunch gently, with both her faces burning with the heat of the summer but neither of them protesting until Natsuki finally spoke. "O-Okay, that's enough, I don't want to leave you without food for yourself", the girl with pink hair said as she looked away embarrassed. Yuri simply started eating the rest of the food without saying a word. The shy one however did not realize she was using the same chopsticks Natsuki ate from and unconsciously licked them from the same spot, unaware (Or maybe not) of the indirect kiss, wondering why she felt awfully excited when she did so.

As both girls walked to Natsuki's classroom, Yuri found herself smiling softly the whole time. "So, thanks again for the food, I'll see you at the club Lady Sorry", Natsuki said smirking at her friend. "Yes, s-see you then", Yuri said waving bye to her petite friend and started to walk away and Natsuki entered her classroom.

While she walked to the her classroom, Yuri passed next to the boy she had felt hatred towards earlier and took a look at him better seeing he was in fact way less of a decent sight to watch as her mind had made him look earlier and felt a strange feeling of confidence and victory as if she had just won a championship match. "She preferred me over you and your ridiculous mustache! In your face! ... Stop it already Yuri!", The shy girl however giggled to herself and continued to walk away with her head held high all the time.
