The Alpha's Mistake

Chapter 1

Seven years later

Mating was a hard thing to explain. At a certain age, determined by your rank in your pack, you would find your mate. Or soulmate, as some prefer. The higher up you are on the pack food chain, the later you'll find your determined soulmate. The reason for this, is said to be that the alphas have a wide ego, one they can't tame until they've reached actually full blown maturity. Which is a shocking age 20. For Omegas, the weaker wolves of the pack, they find their mates at 14.

When Sam and I met, at age 21, it was instantaneous love. A deep, burning passion so strong it was almost virtually unbreakable. Almost. The only way to end a mate bond, once completed, is through death. Now, Sam and I weren't fully mated, I didn't even know I was a werewolf until about a year before we met, thus being the reason that I wanted to have a relationship like I was raised to do.

To complete a mate bond, you need to mark each other. Like, bite eachother's necks and spend a night together, in more than one way if you're steppin' on what I'm throwin' down. Sam always refused to mark me, he would always say that he wanted to make sure I was ready, and I told him I was several times. We would have sex, but he never bit me. And what could I do, I was just his little toy, according to one of his ex's. Another flavor of the month, or year in my case. I'm 29 now, and Sam would be too, if he hadn't, passed.

"Mommy!" My baby girl, Delilah, called.

"Yeah baby?" I yelled, walking into the hallway where I could hear the pitter patter of her little feet.

"Daddy says that you need to get ready to leave in a hour half!"

"A half hour?"

"Yeah! Sorry mommy, a half hour!"

"Thank you Dell. Will you go tell your siblings that they need to get dressed in the clothes I laid out for them?"

"Yeah."

"Thank you baby girl."

As it turns out, I was pregnant with triplets, three children, for me to raise by myself. But, it wasn't by myself the entire time. Tony and I got close, like, really close. After Sam had been gone for a year and a half, and I had given birth to the trips and was struggling severely, Tony swooped in and began to help me more and more. Two months later we were dating. And eight months after that, he bit me.

Tony's mate was a slut, they met when Tony turned eighteen, when she was walking out of my mate's bedroom. Yeah, I wasn't too happy to hear about that. But either way, she kicked him to the curb, told him he wasn't an alpha and that he was a piece of trash. So, with nothing but my heart to lose, I fell, hard. Tony proposed by sticking a bunch of post it notes around my room. Each one had one of the kids first words on it. Finally, when they were all picked up, he pointed to one in the corner, stuck to the ceiling. When I looked up at it it had the words, "Will you marry me?" written clearly across the post-it. When I turned around to ask him if he was serious, he was on one knee, a blue velvet ring box sitting in the palm of his hand. Two months after that, a short time, I know, we were married. Now I'm pregnant, again, with a little girl on the way.

Now, a little over seven years after my mate's death, we're moving. The entire pack, to the middle of nowhere. Well, to Nebraska, to live in the middle of nowhere with a pack called the Valentine pack. A new kind of plant, one called Dendilax, began to develop in the area, and breathing it in destroyed your lungs. Now the entire pack was being relocated, fun right?

The drive was supposed to be around ten hours, including a couple breaks inbetween. Tony, the kids and I would be in one car, and the rest of the pack is still situating who's taking what. I take care of financial stuff, I plan when we attack who and training hours, but everything else the pack does, apparently stress isn't good for my baby.

When I was finished packing, I dragged my suitcase out of my room and through the hall of the pack house.

"You better not be lifting that suitcase Luna! Tony will kick your ass!" One of my pack members called from downstairs, probably the living room.

"Tell Tony to sh-" A hot breathe was blown across the back of my neck, and the minty smell of my husband carried around me.

"Tell me to what, sweetheart?" He asked, kissing my neck from the back of my ear to my collarbone.

"I-I didn't say anything. Sweet heart." I ground out, trying to keep in a groan and he kissed my mark.

"Well, my lovely little wife, I don't think your telling me the truth. And what did I say about lifting heavy objects?" Tony asked, pulling away from me and moving to my front, resting one hand on my stomach while he reached for my suitcase.

"It's bad for the baby." I mumbled, looking down at his hand.

"That's right, it's bad for the-" A small jolt was sent to my stomach, and when I  finally registered what it was, a huge smile spread across my face.

"Did you feel that?" Tony asked, getting down on both of his knees and resting his head on my stomach. "I can hear a little heartbeat." He started to kiss my stomach softly, while his hands rested on my hips.

"EW! Momma has stretch marks!" My head snapped towards my six year old son Danny, his face scrunched up.

"Danny!" Tony snapped, glaring at my son. "How do you know what those are?"

"Remember when Mandy was pregnant?" Mandy was just another pack member, her dad was a good friend of Sam's before he died.

"Yes?"

"I asked her why her stomach was all wrinkly, and she told me they were stretch marks."

"You're too smart for your own good." Tony mumbled, shaking his head. "Come here boy." Danny ran and jumped into his arms, and two seconds lated Delilah and my other son Jack ran around the corner.

"I want a hug too!" They both yelled, jumping into Tony's arms.

Tony was like a dad to them, they knew their dad died when they were still in my stomach but to Tony was the only dad they'd ever known.

"Ready to go kiddos?" I asked, grabbing my suitcase and walking towards the stairs.

"Um, I think not!" Tony yelled, putting the kids on the ground and running to grab the suitcase in question.

"Baby, I'll be fine."

"I just don't want to take any chances." He whispered, planting a kiss on my lip before smiling and placing a hand on my stomach. "I love you." He whispered, putting another kiss on my lip.

"I love you too."

"And I love you too baby girl." Tony whispered, kissing my enlarged stomach.

"We love you too Is!" The kids yelled, planting a kiss on my stomach next to their dad.

The kids were convinced we're naming our child Isabel, I don't know why but they were.

"Come on kids." Tony smiled, moving over to grab my suitcase again and drag it downstairs. "We're going to Nebraska!"

"Yay!"
