The Alpha's Mistake
Prologue
I stared at the pack's second in command, Tony, as tears filled my eyes. I felt like the world was caving in on me, I couldn't breathe and my heart was pounding so hard in my chest I thought I was having a heart attack.
"No! NO! He CAN'T be gone!" I yelled, clutching my hair in my hands.
"I'm sorry Luna, but we all saw it. Jason dragged him off and slit his throat. I'm sorry."
"You're lying! You're lying, you just want to trick me! Is it April Fools? If you think this is funny so help me dammit I will rip you and my mate to shreds."
"Jamie, Sam is gone. I'm not lying."
"Well what are we supposed to do! We don't have an alpha!" I screamed, laying back on the soft grass, staring up at stars.
"You'll have to lead us Jame, you're the closest to an alpha we have."
"But, I can't lead an entire pack by myself! Why can't you do it Tony?"
"Well I'll lead with you, you won't be by yourself."
"He was my mate, Tony."
"And he was my alpha. But I'm not going to stop leading because he's dead. Sam's gone, Jamie, you need to realize it. It won't do any better to cry. You need to be strong, for your pack." Tony walked over and knelt down in front of me, pulling me up from the ground so that I was pressed against his chest. "I'm here for you Jamie. It'll be alright. I'll help you take care of the pack."
"It's not the pack I'm worried about Tony." He pulled back and looked at me, staring my eyes questioningly.
"But you said-"
"I'm pregnant, Tony."
