Kaida has always wanted to travel the world, just be another anonymous tourist that paid too much for trinkets, mispronounced city names, and generally exist as just part of the homogenous crowd. A sweet little dream for someone on the run from a Mafia Family for testifying, and even her ability to disappear is sorely tested when her protection detail turns up dead. Over hearing one of the rich Nosferisians discussing an upcoming business trip and the need to pick an assistant out of a list of recommendations, Kaida manages to replace the chosen winner and travels out of the country as Galileo’s new aide. Galileo is one of the Nosferisians, called vampire in impolite society, and he is attending a very important conference in Europe as the representative from his Family. A position he did not want, and was forced to take when his eldest brother was brutally murdered. One of the rival Families is trying to take out the competition and picking everyone off one by one. His new assistant has no trouble being ‘meals in heels’ as she coins the term, and proves her worth fairly quickly but there is something suspicious about her that sets his pointy teeth on edge. And when the Family makes a power play, a lot of skeletons start to fall out of the closet.
