Her body was trembling in trepidation as she stood outside the front doors of her house. Her hands frantically searching her pockets for the spare key to it that she always carry with her while going out, but all they caught was empty space. Running through the events of the last night that her mind could remember, she tried to locate the key, but like her pockets, they were devoid of the key, too.
She wasn't scared as to how her mother would react on seeing her which was a sure thing to happen which she can't,t escape no matter how hard she try and it sure as hell would be nothing heartwarming. After all, she vanished from the very face of the earth last night without so much as a note of explanation, but she didn't plan it in the first place. What happened was just something even beyond her understanding. How she ended up in that house was a complete blank and so as well the time in which it happened. The surreal thought that was eating away at her insides was the thoughts hell bent on incurring the vehement thoughts about her brother, Augustus. Her little angle who can not be replaced no matter how many Aiden walks out of her life. The name alone of the delinquent boy who so harshly broke her heart last night was enough to oil the fury that was the sole reason for everything that happened last night.
She closed her eyes, trying to contain the anger she was feeling on herself that started boiling now. She felt angry for forgetting the key, angry for acting so irresponsibly, angry for loving someone so selfish, angry for losing it for him and doing what she did last night.
Finally, she groaned loudly to release the frustration because what stood ahead need to have a calm head for handling it. At last, when she felt her fury in enough control, she stretched her hand reached out the doorbell, pressing it once, twice, thrice -- she pressed it continuously, her hand growing impatient with every passing second. The more time passed, the more impatiently she pressed down the bell. Her fear roaring in the pit of her stomach telling her something wasn't right, that something really bad happened.
Only one thing she repeated while going at the bell button impatiently.
Gus, you better be alright.
It was when her emotions started overwhelming her and unshed tears started to surface, shining in the broad daylight -- a contrary to the course of her emotions -- Suddenly, with a whoosh of air, the doors swung open inwards, revealing a thin women in a fluffy jumper and blue jeans in the gap between them, but before Perrie could blink back her tears and get the proper chance to take in her mother's expressions, Mrs. Edwards flung herself over her and started crying profusely.
"Perrie! Oh Perrie! Where were you? I was so alone and scared. What with Gus gone and you not by my side....."
Mrs. Edwards sobbed continuously in her shoulder, her voice hoarse, telling Perrie she had been crying for quite a long time, but it wasn't possible for her to worry about that at the moment, for more frighteningly prominent things grabbed her attention. From all the questions and other things that Mrs. Edwards had spoken so far, the only thing that got register to her brain and which sent a chill down her spine was the word GONE.
No. no. Not possible. He was fine last night. We planned for summer vacations together. No. just not possible. Maybe Mum has got it wrong. Yeah, yeah I would prove her wrong.
With that thought, she jerked away from her mother with a force little over the required, as a result of which, she stumbled a few steps backwards and collided into something solid.
On spinning around, her blues met the light brown of autumn and she gasped as she literally heard a faint click sound, like her eyes were the keys and they finally unlocked the right lock. For some unknown reason, she found herself diving to the depths of those eyes, like it wasn't unusual but a normal thing, like to fathom their deepest emotions was her right. It wasn't until the moment she found it. It was what she was searching for in those depths. Assurance stared back at her, promising her that everything is going to be fine, that everything was fine, asking her to relax.
