"If I didn't know better," Mark broke the long silence after they were both sure the elevator was done moving. "I'd say this thing was having a seizure."

"Maybe they're trying to fix it from the outside," Evie suggested. Mark sighed and lowered himself, sitting down on Evie's right. She laid her head on his shoulder. Evie was getting deja vu. An event similar to this one had happened to them not more than 4 years ago. They were going to the park with their friends when the elevator got stuck. Everyone had been freaking out, and Evie would've had a panic attack had it not been for Mark trying to calm them all down.

He suggested playing a childish game of truth or dare while waiting for the elevator to be fixed again. In the end, it became something to laugh at, a memory all five of them treasured. She unconsciously smiled, glancing up at the boy who seemed like he was about to drift off.

She was happy that not much had changed about Mark, despite how long it had been since they'd last seen each other.

"Alex. I swear to everything I know and believe in, if you swear one more time, I'm cutting off your head and using it as a trophy on my wall." Yeona threatened after Alex had cursed for the billionth time. The thirteen friends were on their way back to school to check on the fire situation. Alex groaned when Yeona jabbed him in the chest.

"It's called releasing stress, Nana!" He explained.

"It's called being positive, Alex!" Yeona countered. The other eleven kids were all getting migraines from Yeona and Alex's constant banters.

"Will you two quit it?" Sam yelled. Both of them went silent.

"What's the time?" Asher asked after a while. Yeona took her phone out of her yellow cardigan.

"Quarter to five." She answered.

"I've got a plan." Matthew spoke up after a few moments of tense silence. "We can either all go to one of our houses, or we can all go home and then group call or just keep in touch via text. Staying outside and stressing isn't helping any of our moods." The other students seemed to ponder that for a few moments.

"Whose parents would be willing to accept around thirteen students on such short notice?" Alex asked. Minho slowly raised his hand.

"My parents are always ready for guests. Besides, we live in the middle of the city, so it'll be pretty easy for everyone else to get to their own houses afterwards." He informed his friends. Cue thirteen kids calling their parents in many different languages.

Evie was woken up by the sound of doors opening, and a bunch of people talking. She opened her eyes and took in the scene. Firemen and worried teachers were standing at the doors of the elevator, staring down at them. Her eyes widened when she remembered what had happened. She lifted her head off of Mark's shoulder and shook him awake. They were ushered out of the elevator and bombarded with questions. Apparently the firemen had managed to put the fire out, and some technicians had to get the CCTV working again so they could check which elevator Mark and Evie were stuck in. But she didn't care about the details. She was just happy they were alive.

A/N: So these latest chapters have been pretty long. Don't worry though, they'll go back to the original chapter length after this whole fire fiasco is over. I don't want the chapters to be TOO lengthy. Also, a word about the timeline; this chapter happened on the 20th of September. One or two chapters from now, I'll try to make it present time, and I will make sure to write if there are any time changes. Thank you for reading!
